An August 2022 news report from The Guardian highlighted a study published in the British Medical Journal which found that the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine may play a role in thwarting cervical cancer. The study said that giving women the HPV vaccine when precancerous lesions are removed from their cervix may cut the risk of cells recurring and them getting cervical cancer. The study looked at the total number of cases of cervical cancer which has fallen dramatically since the HPV vaccine started being offered in the country in 2008. Maria Kyrgiou of Imperial College London analyzed more than 18 papers on the topic to determine that those who had been vaccinated against HPV had a 57% lower risk of high-grade preinvasive precancerous cervical lesions.

Here in the United States, the CDC’s (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) website has published similar observations on the efficacy of the HPV vaccine. Since the HPV vaccine was made available in the United States in 2006, infections with HPV types that cause most HPV cancers and genital warts have dropped 88% among teen girls and 81% among young adult women. HPV vaccines have also led to fewer teens and young adults getting genital warts and a reduced number of cases of precancers of the cervix in young women. The role that the HPV vaccine plays in helping cut the cases of cervical cancer is further solidified when one considers that while the vaccine has significantly cut cases of the disease since 2008, women who were 27 or older that year and were not eligible for the vaccine have an unchanged risk of developing it.

The spokesperson for MeetPositives.com, Tommy Marks, commented on the findings of the study published in the British Medical Journal by saying, “There are 100 types of the HPV virus, more than 30 of which can affect the genitalia. 14 of those increase the risk for cervical cancer. The HPV virus is so common in the United States that, with over 79 million current total infections and 14 million being newly infected every year, most people who are sexually active will have the virus at some point in their lives. There is no reason for you to avoid the HPV vaccine regardless of your intentions for your love life. With the study coming out of the UK and the CDC’s own research on the subject, it is safe to say that getting the vaccine is going to benefit you in more ways than one. If you were already too old to qualify for a shot of the HPV vaccine when it was first introduced and if you are one of the unlucky few for whom its symptoms manifest on the body, we realize how hard it can be to date and talk about your condition to potential mates. We have created Meet Positives for this exact reason. On our platform, you can start your relationship with the ones you are courting, on the firm bedrock of trust and respect.”

Readers across the United States who are looking for the best HPV Dating website can sign up for Meet Positives by visiting it via their browser on any desktop or mobile device. The platform also has an Android app and an iOS app is currently being developed.
