Villa Park, Illinois-based Chicagoland Chimney Repair & Restoration is a company that has worked hard to earn a solid reputation for the types of services that they provide. This work includes professional chimney sweeping, all types of chimney repairs, and installing new flue & chimney liners. It’s the latter that the company owner, Vince Saraceno, stated is one of the most misunderstood parts of any chimney system. That’s why he wanted to take the time to discuss the important role flue & chimney liners play when it comes to safely exhausting hot smoke and other harmful gases from any home.

The company owner started out by saying that the most important role a liner plays in any chimney or flue system is minimizing the risk of accidental fires. That’s because the mortar that chimney bricks are held together with will break down over time. While bricks themselves will not catch fire, they often rest against other building materials such as roofing shingles and wood siding that will. A chimney or flue liner provides a layer of protection over bricks and mortar which helps prevent them from breaking down and allowing dangerous heat transfer into nearby areas to take place. These important chimney safety devices also help better contain dangerous chimney and flue gasses such as carbon monoxide so it can’t get to places in a home where they can severely impact the health of occupants or even cause death.

Saraceno warned that one of the most troubling aspects of older homes is that they may have never even had a chimney liner installed. This is something that should be very troubling to a homeowner because of the increased potential for fire in this situation. He says a homeowner with a home that was built before 1940 may be made aware of this condition if they notice such things as smoke coming out from between the bricks of their chimney instead of out of the top. Homes that do have chimney liners can also experience various conditions and breakdowns which can lead to unsafe chimney and flue venting conditions. That’s why the company owner advises people to get their chimneys and flues inspected on a regular basis to ensure they are properly lined and doing their jobs in the safest possible way. He says that they will happily schedule a chimney or flue inspection for any homeowner and let them know if their chimney liner needs cleaning or is need of any types of repairs. It was also noted by him that chimney inspections can be done at just about any time of the year, so it’s best not to wait until the busy early fall season to get chimney and flue inspections and repairs done.

Those that have had chimney liners cleaned or installed by the company often leave very positive reviews on the work that has been performed for them. “Costel Malureanu stated, “We are very pleased with the results. Our chimney was in really bad condition and the concrete cap was cracked so we contracted Chicagoland Fireplace and Chimney Restoration to rebuild it. The chimney liner was also cracked and needed to be replaced. The bid price they gave us was very good and they left without a trace that they had been there. Vince, your crew did a great job that was highly appreciated. As a licensed home inspector, I will recommend this company to all my clients who need chimney, fireplace, or masonry work.” Jose Medina proclaimed, “Outstanding work at a reasonable price. I had a new chimney liner installed by them. Krystian and Paco were very professional. They completed the work quicker than I anticipated and were in/out within a couple of hours. I will definitely use them again.”

Saraceno also mentioned that they are proud to be a consistently 5-star-rated company that proudly serves such Chicago area locations as Arlington Heights, Bolingbrook, Elmwood Park, Evanston, Joliet, Naperville, Oak Lawn, Westchester, and more. He says that those that are interested to learn more about their chimney services such as cleaning, repairing, and restoration can get that information by referring to the company website.
