Costa Rica School Of Massage Therapy is pleased to announce their latest continuing education course offering, which is a certification in Manual Lymph Drainage focusing on the Vodder Techniques. This is a five day manual lymphatic drainage certification course where the students will learn the history of the lymphatic system and the techniques of manual lymph drainage. In addition, they will cover basic anatomy and the physiology of the lymphatic system, the drainage pathways for the lymphatic system, lymphatic conditions and insufficiencies that result into edema, pathophysiology of the lymphatic system, the differences between edema and lymphedema, and the indications and contraindications of manual lymphatic drainage massage. This 5-day manual lymphatic drainage massage certification course is only for licensed or certified massage therapists, and licensed healthcare professionals and healthcare students. This course is credited as 40 hours of National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) approved continuing education credits for Manual Lymph Drainage Certification. It will be held on December 11th to 17th, 2022 at Playa Samara, Costa Rica. The dates include two days for arrival and departure with five class days in between.

Students can enjoy simple and comfortable accommodations in the Costa Rican style bungalows in the heart of Playa Samara only a few seconds from the beach. Each 2 or 3 bedroom bungalow is completely furnished with a full kitchen, bathrooms and living room. Options for single or double bedrooms are available, including studio apartments. A swimming pool, WiFi access, hot water showers, lush gardens, and fans are available. Air conditioning is also available at an extra charge.

Playa Samara, Costa Rica serves as the perfect location for this five-day course because the town is situated in the attractive green hills of the popular Nicoya Blue Zone on the Pacific Coast of this Central American country. Those who will take the course will enjoy strolling the streets of the Playa Samara downtown area and going to the various local and international restaurants, gift shops, and bars and discos. All of these with a backdrop of miles of palm trees and white sand beaches, which offer a safe and perfect location for snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, and stand up paddleboard (SUP).

Students will learn the basic strokes for the whole body and their effects; the use of basic manual lymphatic drainage sequences for healthy lymphatic systems;, the use of basic manual lymphatic drainage massage sequences for various pathologies, such as migraines, fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome; and the application of basic manual lymphatic drainage for post-traumatic and post-surgical edema.

This course will also provide help to therapists in developing treatment sequences for the management of edema due to a number of causes such as: post-traumatic and post-surgical edema; including a number pathologies such as chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, migraines, chronic pain, and others. During this course, the participants will also learn how to perform certain techniques that will help patients and clients with regards to general relaxation, detoxification, and health support.

The course instruction will be provided by Damien Archambeau, LMT, MLD-C, MLD Instructor. Damien A. Archambeau is a BCTMB and LMT of 20 years and specializes in rehabilitative massage therapy and therapeutic massage.
