Bronx family law attorney Juan Luciano (https://divorcelawfirmnyc.com/family-law-attorney/) releases a new article explaining family law in Manhattan. The lawyer mentions that in the United States almost fifty percent of all marriages in the country end in divorce. There may be a lot of research around “why” people end up in divorce, but the pain divorce brings to the family is still very real.

“Family and divorce law is not only about financial and child custody outcomes. An experienced family law attorney in Manhattan deals with real people and real problems that can’t be easily navigated through the eyes of a “case” or distilled into dry legal concepts,” says the Bronx family law attorney.

The lawyer explains that in family law, the most important matter to be taken care of is the children’s well-being during the divorce process. One of the ways to address this matter is through child custody. And this is one aspect of the divorce that both spouses will need to discuss thoroughly.

Attorney Juan Luciano adds that family law also addresses child support and visitation. Until the children are 21 years old or are financially emancipated, the parents are required to support their welfare. The financial well-being of the children will be formally determined to ensure that the obligation is fair and the terms are understood by both parties.

In the article, attorney Luciano says that child support in New York is based on fixed percentages of the parent’s gross income and the number of children they have. These percentages are 17% of the combined parental income for one child, 25% for two children, 29% for three, 31% for four children, and no less than 35% for five or more children.

According to the family law attorney, “In most cases, both parents want to spend meaningful time with their children, and New York family law courts uphold that right whenever possible unless it is detrimental to the child. When determining custody, divorce law suggests that a visitation schedule be developed to set out the terms of the arrangement between parents. It will specify how parents will share time with the child on weekdays, weekends, school breaks and holidays, special occasions, and vacations.”

Lastly, the lawyer emphasizes the importance of having a skilled divorce attorney when it comes to family law matters. Having an experienced lawyer may be able to help the client understand their rights and responsibilities in a divorce case, and may be able to help them receive a favorable income.
