Nashville, TN:  Jonathan Turner, a criminal defense attorney who practices in Nashville, Tennessee, is celebrating his 2nd year of helping clients get the rehabilitative services they need to recover from drug and alcohol addictions.  This is an area of great need across the entire country, and attorneys should be watching out for situations where they can get clients the help that they need. By addressing their substance abuse issues, he has helped clients avoid extensive jail or prison time so they can start a new life.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 23.5 million persons aged 12 or older needed treatment for an illicit drug or alcohol abuse problem.  That's about 9.3% of the population ages 12 or older.

Jonathan offers a core set of strategies for getting to the heart of solving a client's drug and alcohol addictions.   He encourages his clients to either enter rehab, attend twelve step recovery programs, apply for alternative sentencing and/or get mental health treatment.   At times, Jonathan has been able to get the courts to give clients a second chance by avoiding up to 10 years in prison to get treatment and probation.

In addition, Jonathan tailors his solutions individually for each client.  "I'm excited to celebrate 2 years of focusing on this in our practice.  Some people need to go to intensive inpatient rehab while other people merely need to attend twelve step meetings.  It just depends on the person and the level of help needed."

Also, a lot people cannot afford rehab. "Luckily, Nashville is one of the leading cities for drug and alcohol recovery." Jonathan adds, "there are over 2000 free recovery meetings a week in the Nashville area alone.  In addition, some rehabs offer scholarships for people that need financial help."

After beginning his criminal defense practice, Jonathan quickly learned that many of his clients had substance abuse, addiction, and mental health issues.  He asks every client particular questions in order to identify any addiction and mental health issues so that he can help them start a new life.

"My passion," Jonathan says, "is to help people turnaround their lives by giving them hope whether it is with a finding the right rehabilitative services or by successfully defending them in court."

“My contribution to clients is focused on finding a successful rehabilitative service,” says Jonathan. “It could be with a rehab facility, twelve step program, or even mental health treatment.”

In addition to graduating from the University of Virginia School of Law Jonathan Turner was a past Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney in Halifax County, Virginia.  His experience and training have made him a versatile professional capable of helping clients with a rehabilitative needs. He is also admitted to practice law in Tennessee and Associate Member of the Virginia State Bar.
