Anaheim, California - Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol treatment facility in Anaheim California has organized a softball team composed of its alumni to participate in the third season of the City of Orange Adult Softball Program. The City of Orange Department of Community Services and Major League Softball, Inc. are the administrators of the program.

The Lighthouse Alumni Softball Team composed of players of all skill levels started the year with a bang. The team hit it out of the park with a 16-6 win in their game on January 4, 2022.

Sara Alba, Alumni Coordinator of the Lighthouse, said that participating in this softball league is a great way to promote sportsmanship and community while in addiction recovery.

“At the Lighthouse Treatment Center, we believe that promoting a sense of community is very important in recovery and what better way to do this than with team sports? Our goal is for our alumni to meet other people in recovery, stay active, and most importantly, have fun in sobriety,” said Alba.

Mitch E, a member of the Lighthouse Alumni Program and softball team, shared that being able to have fun in recovery showed him how much life is worth living. “I haven’t played softball in years! It is awesome to be a part of a team again. The encouragement and excitement is something I love being able to experience.”
