Ottawa physiotherapy and chiropractic center Kent Chiro-Med Wellness Clinic has published a video on its Youtube channel that tells the story of Laura, a car accident victim who was able to overcome her injuries and get back to her life after she underwent care at the clinic.
Laura is a patient of Dr. Maryam Hassanzadeh. In the Youtube video, she explains that she was hit by a car in March 2020 leading to injuries in both of her legs. She approached Kent Chiro-Med in hopes that they would be able to help her get back to her regular life. Laura describes her first experience of walking into the clinic by saying, “I remember my first experience at Kent Chiro-Med. I walked in and it was a friendly atmosphere. There was good music playing. Everybody seemed to be in a good mood, even though this was a place of rehabilitation. I felt at ease and comfortable almost immediately when I stepped into the clinic. I was really happy about that.”
Laura goes on to say that the first time she was greeted by the physiotherapist, she felt very seen and heard by her. The physiotherapist listened to all of the complaints that Laura had about her injuries. The physiotherapist then did a very one-on-one and thorough medical examination that made Laura feel like the care she was receiving was personalized for her as opposed to being used for other patients. Laura says in the video that she started seeing results after the third or fourth session with the physiotherapist. Laura also says that she felt better, had more balance while walking, and felt less pain, enabling her to get back on her feet.
Laura was diagnosed with whiplash by Dr. Maryam when she first came in. The physiotherapist and Dr. Maryam then worked together to give Laura the best possible treatment for her injuries. The physiotherapist helped pinpoint trouble areas in Laura’s lower back and in her neck whereas Dr. Maryam helped unblock those treatments with her chiropractic treatments. The physiotherapist also helped the treatment process by using acupuncture on Laura’s neck.
When asked about her experience with Dr. Maryam, Laura says, “When I first met Dr. Maryam, I was quite excited about my chiropractic treatment with her. She blew my expectations out of the water, She was very caring and observant. She asked me many questions that I didn’t think to ask myself at all. She diagnosed my whiplash from the accident almost 6 months after it had happened which no doctor had done for me until that point. She started with a medical exam on my entire neck and body. She showed me the places where I had tension in my neck and my spine and also showed me the misalignment in my hips. She was very thorough. She was firm but also gentle. My treatments with her never hurt.”
When asked to comment on the effect that the clinic’s treatment has had on her life, Laura says, “After getting treatment from Dr. Maryam and the physiotherapist, I found that my love for going to the gym and playing volleyball is within reach for me for the first time since my accident. Before visiting Kent Chiro-Med I didn’t think it would be possible for me to play volleyball again. Slowly but surely the treatment is helping me get there. I’m walking at the same pace that I was walking before the accident. I can run with little complications now. I’m getting better at jumping, My balance and mobility have improved. I’m very excited about what the future holds for me. I’m so happy to be a part of the growing family at Kent Chiro-Med Wellness Clinic.”
