Irvine, California based Hard Drive Recovery Associates is pleased to draw their community’s attention to a recent blog post they published on SSD benefits. The company has been operating for over 15 years. In that time, they have successfully dealt with virtually all kinds of data loss situations.
Jack Edwards of Hard Drive Recovery Associates says, “Most computer and laptop owners know that they have a hard drive inside their machines. They might even go and buy an external hard drive to free up space on their hard drive and head off any problems that may arise from a hard drive crash. However, not many people are aware of storage options beyond that. SSDs, or Solid State Drives, are a great option for people who want all the benefits of a hard drive and more while having less flaws.”
Hard Drive Recovery Associates explain that if a Windows 10 computer takes a long time to start up, it is probably because it runs on a regular hard drive. This is also the case with most older computers. However, if the hard drive is replaced with a solid state drive, it will make the machine run faster. In fact, even a 5-year-old computer with an SSD can boot up much faster than a brand new system running on a regular hard drive. The good news is that swapping out the drive is easy and inexpensive as well.
The company also shared that it is not just solid state drives that are being innovated upon. With recent innovations from Intel and their Optane Memory, this branch of technology is getting a significant improvement. Intel claims its newest technology will give old-school spinning drives solid-state drive-like (SSD) speeds today and eventually transform computer storage forever. According to TechRadar, “Intel Optane Memory might sound like RAM, but it’s actually a specialized storage product that hooks up to the M.2 storage slot (PCIe Gen 3.0×2) on a PC motherboard. You’ll find them on the latest motherboards designed for Intel’s latest 7th generation, or Kaby Lake, processors and the 200 series Intel chipset.”
The connected storage drive gives computer users 16GB or 32GB of Optane Memory that makes way for very high performance. With this innovation, a 1TB, 7,200 rpm spinning hard drive can become twice as responsive in performing daily tasks and booting up or launching a browser up to five times faster. It can also provide up to 67% and 65% reductions in game app launch and game level load times.
Intel is also offering everyone a chance to upgrade their computer’s storage with an SSD that promises to work even better than hard drives. SSDs are certainly always faster than hard drives, but the old school HDDs still hold the power when it comes to robustness and stability. However, newer SSDs can hold data for longer without risk of crash or failure.
In an article shared by Hard Drive Recovery Associates, Digital Trends says, “It definitely feels like Intel is on to something here, for the simple reason that most computer users look for the larger hard drive. It’s one of the most important factors to the casual user, and they definitely notice when storage space is lacking. What system builders know is that using an SSD improves the minute-to-minute usability and responsiveness of any system, to the point that we’ve taken to harshly criticizing modern systems that don’t at least offer it as an option. The bottom line is that Intel is offering up a product that makes some impressive promises to a market that already had to answer them.”
According to Hard Drive Recovery Associates, there is no harm in trying this technology from Intel. Technology is evolving, and newer developments are designed to help keep up with the various technological advancements made with every passing day. Without actually adopting new technologies, there is no way to say how it will affect computer users in the future.
