Erlanger, Ky. — SUN Behavioral Kentucky, which treats mental health and substance use disorders, is happy to announce they are now offering telehealth services. This allows patients to get the same quality care they would receive in person no matter where they are as long as there is an internet connection or a phone line. Telemedicine or telemental health services offer patients access to medical benefits in real-time over the phone or through the internet.

For those who are not sure of the kind of services they require, SUN Behavioral Kentucky provides a no-cost consultation with trained staff 24/7 to determine the level of care needed. People only need to fill out the online form to get a verification email and schedule a video call with one of their clinicians.

For both new and current patients who want more in-depth mental health services, SUN Behavioral Kentucky has two telehealth outpatient programs their clinical team may recommend, depending on the information provided through the online form. The Partial Hospitalization Program offers up to six hours a day of clinical programming, five days a week. The Intensive Outpatient Program offers up to three hours of clinical programming each day for three to five days a week. It provides a more flexible alternative for the patient and permits the use of a flexible clinical plan.

SUN Behavioral Kentucky, which is based in Erlanger, Ky., offers a variety of services, including treatments for adult mood and anxiety disorders; adult outpatient treatment; adult transition unit; children and adolescent programs; treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); treatment for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders; and panic disorder treatment.

Panic disorder has symptoms that feel slightly more serious than panic attacks. Panic disorder can come with an accelerated heart rate, sweating, and shortness of breath.

Post-traumatic stress disorder is linked to a person having a traumatic experience, even if it wasn’t life-threatening. Cases of PTSD have been found to occur as a result of war, natural disasters, or getting involved in a serious accident.

SUN Behavioral Kentucky also treats phobias and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Some signs of GAD include sleeping problems, an increase in irritability, muscle tension, and having problems with controlling worries.

One of their popular treatments is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which is a form of therapy where the patient interacts directly with a therapist and discusses emotions and thoughts to change the way the patient’s body reacts to anxiety and stress. CBT can be used to comprehend how the anxiety may start so that patients can begin the process of changing their reactions when feeling anxious. It is important to note that anxiety is not a disease. It can be treated, and the patient may be able to stop feeling it or being affected too much by it.

SUN Behavioral Health was founded with the mission of partnering with communities to offer solutions for the unmet needs of people who are suffering from mental health and substance use disorders. They have a 197-bed psychiatric hospital located in Erlanger, Ky., which is only 10 minutes south of Cincinnati, Ohio.
