EarlyBirds, the company operating the Early Birds Marketplace, a business to business (B2B) open ecosystem that allows innovators, early adopters, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to get together, has explained in a webinar how human centered design can solve systemic social challenges. In this webinar, Kris Poria, co-founder and CEO of EarlyBirds, interviews Scott Weiss, a subject matter expert (SME) and a White House Presidential Innovation Fellow and former IDEO organizational and systems designer. Scott is currently applying human-centered design to find solutions for systemic social challenges, and civic innovation practices.

Scott has been partnering with creative and passionate client teams across various sectors, industries, and communities. He helps in delivering strategic, impact-driven solutions and innovative solutions, to a wide variety of complex challenges. Some of his partners include Harvard University, The City of New York, The UJA-Federation, The United Nations, and the Skoll Foundation. In the webinar, Scott presented how human-centered design can solve systemic social challenges. You can watch the webinar here https://earlybirds.io/en/webinar_videos/12.

Meanwhile, Kris Poria says, “Finding innovators that can help a business does not always have to come from inside a company. We like to show businesses how they can look within their current staff and employees to come up with ideas and opportunities but then help them identify potential innovators that already have a solution. Our platform teaches businesses how to encourage their employees to be that early adopter that a company needs to grow.”

The EarlyBirds open innovation ecosystem is expected to play a key role in how business apply of a new technology, for instance robotics and autonomous systems, quantum computing and many other emerging technologies. This is because it offers a B2B open ecosystem where businesses can find innovators or developers of disruptive technologies. In addition, subject matter experts (SMEs) are participating as consultants to help businesses to solve challenges and seize opportunities by working collaboratively with customers and innovators.

The EarlyBirds open innovation ecosystem consists of a platform with over 1Million innovators that can be searched for innovative solution options. There is an innovation project function for team collaboration, shortlisting and curation of candidate solutions.

EarlyBirds also offers services through their Explorer and Challenger programs. The Explorer program delivers innovation to the whole organisation as a service and has a number of features: Regular engagement to help stimulate innovation in the organisation; a platform enterprise license; a nominated subject matter expert for the business; quarterly and monthly innovation days; and a focus on certain innovations. The Challenger program is for people who want to focus on one challenge or opportunity, at a time, for the organisation.

What makes EarlyBirds really stand out is the focus on how they can solve the various difficulties and challenges that their customers face and help them change and evolve to a new thinking as a way to obtain a solution. They continuously help customers to improve their outcomes and be more productive.
