Personal Injury Law Firm Carabin Shaw is raising awareness about the increasing number of preventable deaths in Texas caused due to riders not wearing seat belts. Readers can find out more about the law firm by heading over to https://carabinshaw.com.

The law firm quotes an article from KFDX-TV, an NBC-affiliated television station licensed to Wichita Falls, Texas, which summarizes the dire need for more awareness and stricter enforcement of regulations.

In 2020, of all the deaths in the state caused by vehicles, 27% could be attributed to the victim not wearing a seat belt. These statistics were published by the Texas Department of Transportation. Its Public Information Officer, Adele Lewis, said while talking to KFDX-TV, “With the pandemic going on and not as many people working and staying at home a lot more, we had lower traffic volumes for a good portion of half of 2020 at least. Yet, we had more fatalities than prior years by a long shot.”

In Wichita Falls, the situation is direr as the percentage of cases where the victim was not wearing a seat belt is almost 50%. According to Adele Lewis, the district had 41 deaths in 2020. Out of those 41 deaths, in 19 cases the victim was not wearing a seatbelt. The demographic is skewed to be mostly men with a ratio of 2:1.

These statistics were backed up by anecdotal evidence from the Wichita Falls Police Department Sergeant Charlie Eipper who claimed that he sees incidents of people not wearing a seat belt on a regular basis. The sergeant said to KFDX-TV, “Just in the position that I’m in, where I read either accident reports where they are not worn, or just hearing about tickets being written, that’s always going to be an issue with people not wearing them. When it comes to the actual people getting hurt or fatality accidents, them not wearing their seat belt is not surprising because it just shows the ones who are wearing them are going to be safer in accidents. It just makes you more vulnerable to injury.”

Out of 5 fatal accidents, two accidents, one on McNiel on May 3, 2020, and one on Hampstead on Nov. 22, 2020, were noted for a lack of seat belt use from the victims. The law firm encourages victims of reckless drivers and their families to seek legal counsel by heading over to its website at https://no1-lawyer.com.

Adele Lewis remarks on driving safety and paints a cautionary picture by saying, “All other factors set aside in a car wreck, whether it’s the other driver driving crazy or it’s bad weather, that’s the one thing you can do to save your life, that is regardless of any other factor in a car crash.”

A spokesperson for the law firm talks about the alarming statistics by saying, “All across the nation, steps are being taken to make a dent in the number of deaths caused by a lack of precautionary measures while driving. Even though an effort is being put in at all levels from the government, we are still shocked by the severity of these numbers. We urge residents of this great state to follow all rules and regulations when they are out in their vehicle as it can mean the difference between life and death. Regardless of the safe and defensive driving techniques that one follows, one can fall prey to the negligence of others. In case you or your loved ones have been in an accident and are suffering through no fault of your own, give our law firm a call. You will get the best legal counsel for your case. Our experienced personal injury attorneys have seen it all and done it all. They will fight for every last dime of restitution that you are owed to make up for the pain and suffering caused by a negligent driver.”
