Dentist Provides Updates About COVID-19 Vaccines Distributed In Plano

Bobby Jivnani of Plano Dental, based in Texas, published a community impact article on the 16th of December which provided the community with COVID-19 updates. The post also talks about the distribution of thousands of vaccines, which has recently begun in earnest in the region.

To quote the post, “Medical City Healthcare received and began distributing 6,825 COVID-19 vaccines Dec. 17, with thousands more on the way in the coming days, according to a Dec. 17 release. Medical City Plano is expected to receive 2,925 of those vaccines, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services. The Plano location for Medical City Healthcare is one of 110 hospitals across Texas to which vaccines have been allocated for front-line health care workers. A total of 49,725 vaccines will be shipped to North Texas during Week One of the allotment, according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services.”

This turn of events is quite welcome, given that cases continue to trend upwards in Plano, according to a different Community Impact post published on December 15th. This post stated that, among other announcements, “Collin County has 3,965 active cases of COVID-19 as of Dec. 15, according to state estimates. For comparison, on Nov. 5, the county's number of active cases was estimated to be 1,471. In Denton County, the number of active cases was estimated to be 3,556 on Nov. 11. That number has more than doubled since then, with an estimated 9,357 active cases of COVID-19 on Dec. 15, according to county data. In Plano, the speedy increase of new daily confirmed cases has slowed, but it continues to climb. In the seven-day period between Dec. 8-15, there were 792 confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported in Plano. In the seven days prior, there were 742.”
