Anaheim, California - Anaheim Lighthouse, a drug and alcohol treatment facility in Anaheim, California is supporting The Longest Night 2020 in Orange County as one of the event’s sponsors. The Longest Night is an annual event held during the Winter’s Solstice, which is the longest night of the year, to remember Orange County neighbors who died the previous year without a permanent, healthy, safe, and secure place to call home. This year, there will be a virtual candlelight vigil and interfaith service that will take place on December 21st.

According to Tamara Jimenez, Community Relations Manager of Anaheim Lighthouse, they are honored to be a part of this community event commemorating the National Homeless Persons Memorial Day.

“We, at Anaheim Lighthouse, are always willing to support events like The Longest Night as our way of giving back to the community. We hope we could help raise awareness about the everyday tragedy of homelessness,” said Jimenez.

The virtual event will be hosted by Hope 4 Restoration, an organization that works towards providing solutions for ending homelessness in Orange County. Tim Houchen, Executive Director of Hope 4 Restoration, said that they have teamed up with Women Driver's Interfaith Group this year to deliver a virtual presentation that will air on December 21, 2020 at 7 PM on YouTube and Facebook Live.

"The pandemic has made it so that we are unable to conduct our traditional public presentation of The Longest Night this year. At first, it was not clear if there would be a 2020 program at all. With the reality of more than 300 deaths among OC's homeless population, there is no way that we could not seize this opportunity to honor those who have died and raise community awareness,” said Houchen.
