Highland, IL. - The Mailbox Store is a local business center and international shipping store in the Highland region. They are highlighting the recently revealed 2021 United States Postal Service cost adjustments. Unfortunately, rates for USPS products and services will be increasing in the upcoming year. The cost modifications are set to take effect on January 24th, 2021, should no other unexpected adjustments be applied prior to this time. With the current projected rate adjustments, the existing cost of all first-class mail will increase by 1.8 percent and all other services by 1.5 percent.
The United States Postal Service's example list of products displaying the price changes consists of five items. According to the list, all letters and flats weighing one ounce or less will remain 55 cents and one dollar, respectively. The expense for each additional ounce in mailed letters will rise from 15 cents to 20 cents. Moreover, metered letters of one ounce will rise in cost from 50 cents to 51 cents. Similarly, the cost of all domestic postcards will increase from 35 cents to 36 cents.
U.S. Postal Service is pleased to still be able to provide some of the most cost-effective letter-mail rates in the developed world, despite the planned January 2021 rate elevation. The Postal Service Board of Governors has already authorized this adjustment and believes it is the best approach to keep rates competitive while simultaneously providing much-needed revenue for the agency.
