Lighthouse Treatment Center Hosts Whale & Dolphin Watching Activity for Its Alumni

Anaheim, California - The Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol residential treatment facility in Anaheim, CA, is hosting a whale and dolphin watching activity for its alumni on June 20, 2020 at the Newport Beach. The event will be the first trip organized by the Lighthouse Alumni Program for this summer.

Jocel Bibera, the alumni coordinator of the Lighthouse, shared that this will be the first time members of the alumni program will meet up after many weeks of just being in contact virtually.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has been tough for all of us, especially for many of our friends in the recovery community. We wanted to host an outdoor activity that our members will enjoy and at the same time, will help them in their recovery,” said Bibera.

Bibera added that the whale and dolphin watching trip will be organized with Covid-19 safety protocols in mind.

“We wanted to ensure that our members will be safe so we chose to tap Davey’s Locker at Newport Beach because they are very proactive in making sure that the guests will be protected,” said Bibera.

Lighthouse alumni members are very excited about the outing, especially new members who have never experienced an alumni group activity before. Jackie F., a new member of the program, shared that she is looking forward to having fun at the trip as this will be her first alumni outing experience.

“When I saw the announcement for this Saturday’s alumni outing, I was instantly excited because not only is whale watching a unique and fun activity, but doing it with Lighthouse alumni makes all the difference. I can’t begin to express my gratitude, as the alumni program provides a built-in support system, with so many amazing people, staff and alumni alike. It also helps me stay active in my recovery and allows me to have so much fun while doing so! The Lighthouse is undoubtedly incredible in so many ways, but what truly makes it outstanding, and sets it apart, is its alumni program,” said Jackie.

Michelle M., another member of the alumni program said that she is excited to spend more time with the Lighthouse family and at the same time, she is also grateful for their support.

“I am so grateful for the Lighthouse family for supporting me in my darkest times. I have been able to change my life around for the better and I am so looking forward to continuing to build long-lasting relationships and experiencing new adventures together such as whale watching,” said Michelle.
