Calgary, Alberta based Living Well Counselling is reaching out to the community to announce that their website has been updated to feature new functionalities. They hope that this expansion will help their community stay in touch over the coming months.

Canadians are not exempt from the pressing circumstances that the current COVID-19 crisis has brought upon the world, forcing everyone to take preemptive measures to protect their health and loved ones. Aware of this situation and the challenges that the community is facing, Living Well Counselling continues to do everything within their power to remain connected with the community during these difficult times. Lately, their efforts have been spent in keeping the community informed about mental health and enabling new ways for visitors to access therapy.

"We wanted to make sure that our beloved community has someone that they can reach out to and rely on during these difficult times," states Jennifer Dawn Watts, a representative of Living Well Counselling. "While this situation has got us all worrying about our physical health, it is important to remember that mental health is also very important. Mental health is intricately connected to physical health. As stress suppresses our immune systems—and given that people are currently facing a range of serious challenges—we feel that staying open and available to Calgarians in need is the best response at this time."

Living Well Counselling encourages the community to access therapy via telephone or online counselling using one of their available and confidential online counselling platforms. For those who do not possess the means to receive counselling through these platforms, the company states that their Counsellors and Registered Psychologists will continue to be available, alongside many other workers in the health professions. Visitors can expect a clean and safe environment in their facilities, with extra hand soap and antiviral Kleenex available for visitors.

First-time visitors who feel inclined to visit the facilities can request a free 20-minute online counselling session to assess whether or not the company's methods are a good fit for them. This is complemented by the company's new online resources, which aim to help and guide the community from the convenience of their own home. "In our new blog, we will be touching upon some of the most common topics of interest for our visitors, along with advice on how to deal with the current situation while protecting our mental health," says Watts. This new portal can be accessed here: https://livingwellcounselling.blogspot.com/.

Living Well Counselling states that, in addition to the measures taken to protect their staff and visitors' health, all of their operations and processes remain the same. One thing they note, however, is that some appointments may be scheduled at a later date depending on the pressing circumstances that some may be affected by.

Living Well Counselling states that members of the community who are facing a mental health crisis that poses a serious risk should indicate this at the time of requesting their appointment to have their request triaged accordingly. Additionally, and to guarantee that finances are not a barrier to people receiving help, they state that they will be offering sliding scale appointments for those who do not have benefits coverage.

"As always, our visitors can expect a safe environment where they will be heard and experience both acceptance and a welcoming nature," says Watts. "We treat our clients with equality, forming a meaningful therapeutic alliance that provides them with everything they need to get ahead of their situation. Living Well Counselling is not about mental illnesses or shame, it’s simply about moving toward your goals and being the best you that you can be. We thank you for trusting us to be of assistance to you during this time, and we will be working hard to provide the best help we can during this crisis."
