Bozeman, Mo. – Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, the safety and welfare of workers and customers in the plumbing, HVAC, and construction industries remain at high-risk. A Bozeman, MT Plumber, Williams Plumbing and Civil Construction, have recently updated their safety procedures to ensure the safety of their residential and civil workers. Williams recently updated their Blog with a list of precautions they are taking adapted from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) of industry-specific best practices and resources to follow over the next several weeks and months and are advising other members of their community to do the same.

Health Organization around the world advise that the most proactive and immediate measure that people of any industry can do is to increase the frequency of handwashing habits. After being in public places or after nose blowing, coughing, or sneezing, these groups recommend the use soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds. If soap and water is not readily available, these agencies recommend use of a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

As the country faces a shortage of hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes, all of Williams plumbers and service technicians are supplied with their own supply of hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes and advise all companies and trades professionals to do the same, if possible.

While many are turning to the use of gloves, the World Health Organization advises that handwashing is done often. COVID-19 can still be transmitted even with rubber gloves as the virus remains on surfaces from hours to days and can still transfer from gloves through physical contact.

While it appears that infection is more likely person-to-person, the CDC and similar health organizations recommends cleaning and disinfecting frequently used tools and materials. The Bozeman, MT HVAC company recommends that while disinfecting these items, they should first be cleaned to remove dirt and lower germ count, then followed up with a chemical disinfectant to kill any remaining bacteria that may not have been removed during the initial cleaning.

In an effort to keep their customers and employees safe, the company is enforcing that their technicians screen potentially infected customers by asking the “Big Three” questions. These questions include but may not be limited to:

“Have you or anyone in your household recently experience a fever, runny nose, sore throat, or cough?”

“Have you or anyone in your house traveled out of state in the last 14 days?”

“Have you or anyone you have been in recent contact with tested positive for COVID-19?”

If they should answer “Yes” to any of these questions, then service will likely denied or delayed for a minimum of two weeks — as determined by the service technician.

Throughout this crisis, Williams Plumbing and Civil Construction remains committed to the safety and service of their customers and employees and are still open for business.
