The Burbank, CA based Contractors State License Center (CSLC), a contractors license school in Los Angeles, is pleased to inform their community that they are ready to consider new applications for their licensing classes. Their classroom curriculum includes six different courses that cover Law and Trade, and the institute is aware that any individuals who wish to attend will require the advantage of flexible timing. Fortunately, they allow students to attend once a week in a two-hour long block. Following the conclusion of six weeks’ worth of classes, students will begin preparing for their exams by taking practice exams. All interested parties are welcome to contact the institute in order to sign up at their earliest convenience.

As the learning center notes, all those who go through California contractors school have to then pass a test administered by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB), as this is the only way they will legally be able to get a job in the field. The test, however, is known to be quite difficult, and CSLC has observed that most people need assistance in preparing for the test in order to pass. Similarly, they have found that contractors have a greater chance of successfully passing the test the first time they sit for it if they studied in a classroom-based setting.

As such, the institute launched their services in order to give their students the tools and educational environment they need to successfully pass the test. Having conducted their operations in this regard for more than 25 years, CSLC has helped many contractors all over the county get their California Contractors License with minimal delay. “We offer a detailed curriculum in a classroom setting that is designed for your success," says the center. “Our program has helped thousands of our students get their California contractors license. We offer Contractor Classes in the San Fernando Valley." Learn more at the following link: Get Contractors License In Burbank.

According to the center, all those who do building work for fees that exceed $500 USD are legally required to hold a license from the California Contractors State Licensing Board. This applies if the total cost of one or more contracts of the project in question, including labor and materials, is $500 or more. The law covers any business or individual who either constructs or alters any building, highway, road, parking facility, railroad, excavation, or other structure in Los Angeles.

According to CSLC, “Contractors can be licensed as general engineering contractors, general builders, or in more specialized trades, such as framing, well drilling, landscaping, or masonry. Contractors, including subcontractors, specialty contractors and persons engaged in the business of home improvement, must be licensed before submitting bids. Licenses may be issued to individuals, partnerships, corporations or joint ventures. The CSLB does issue licenses to Limited Liability Companies (LLCs).”

Exemptions to this law apply only if the total cost of the project falls under $500. CSLC cautions that work on larger projects may not be subdivided into smaller parts that cost under $500 in order to bypass this law, as this is not a supported practice. Furthermore, unlicensed contractors are obliged to inform their client (via written disclosure in B&P Code section 7048) clearly stating that they do not possess a license issued by the CSLB. Failure to do so can lead to them receiving a citation for work carried out by an unlicensed contractor, and unlicensed contractors can be charged with a misdemeanor that carries a potential sentence of up to one year in county jail (in addition to fines that range from $200 to $15,000).

Those who find themselves unable to attend CSLC’s classes will be pleased to learn that the center offers a contractors home study program as well. While their books, practice exams and study guides will help students study for the tests, the center firmly advises that students do their best to attend classes in order to take advantage of the benefits of learning in a classroom environment. Doing so will increase their chances of passing the test the first time they take their contractors license exam.
