The Country Club at DC Ranch, North Scottsdale's premier private golf and country club, is dedicated to keeping their members informed about happenings at some of the other courses that they play on. They recently put out a post regarding winter happenings at nearby Scottsdale National Golf Club. This picturesque course just recently hosted the 2020 PGA Tour’s Waste Management Open. Here are some of the highlights from the memo that those at TPC Scottsdale circulated after their annual meeting which took place in January.

One of the first things that the memo from the Scottsdale course pointed out was that they were experiencing an extremely busy winter season. This was due to the growing popularity of the course after last year’s improvements and to the unseasonably warm weather that has stayed persistent and dry throughout the winter. Since this made preferred tee times a little harder to come by, Scottsdale management wanted to remind those who wanted to golf there to book their tee times as early as possible.

For those at DC Ranch who are members of Scottsdale Golf Club, many will be interested to learn that the memo also gave election results from the club’s annual meeting. It was noted that there was no election for club president and Alan Sears will continue in that position for his second and final year. In a surprise, three completely new personalities will be joining the Scottsdale Golf Club’s board this year and starting 3-year terms. They are George Droll, David Goldberg and Rob Maruster. The other two board members remain Alan Sears and John Roussel who each had their terms extended by two years through the election process.

It was also pointed out that those at this renowned are golf course felt they needed to address several shortcomings to better serve those that golf there. To handle this concern the TPC Scottsdale Course’s board announced that it will be making a master plan for improvement of club facilities. This will include small group discussions and surveys filled out by members. One of the most pressing needs that was mentioned was the desire for the course to update its 22-year-old irrigation system. The biggest problem is that this will force a short course closure. In some ways those in charge also viewed this as a blessing because it will allow them to make improvements to the course bunkers, men’s locker room, team office space, and allowing for additional storage to be built at the same time. These were all viewed as ‘must-do’ projects that will enhance the quality of the club for the next 5 – 10 years. The club leadership also reiterated their statement from the annual meeting that the Scottsdale Golf Club was currently in a strong financial position so now is the right time to make the necessary club improvements.

As usual, no announcement from a private golf club could be put out without addressing something from a rule’s standpoint. Club leadership expressed some dismay over the number of rule violations that were constantly being seen as far as the club’s strict dress code was concerned. These mainly had to do with uncollared shirts being worn in the clubhouse area, hats not being removed upon entry, and tacky looking jeans being worn into the clubhouse.

The Country Club at DC Ranch itself also boasts having one of the area’s best golf courses right on site. It was just recently redesigned by renowned course architects Tom Lehman and John Fought. There is much more for members to do at this exclusive club than play golf, including tennis, fitness, swimming, and some exceptional dining venues that also hold a variety of social events for community members. The staff and management at The Country Club at DC Ranch like to point out that they also spare no effort when it comes to making their facility one that is genuine, welcoming, and warm in spirit.
