Fire Damage Restoration

A St. Louis area company that offers complete restoration services says that many fires also result in extensive water damage being done to other areas of the structure where flames were not even present. That’s why St. Louis Cleaning & Restoration is always prepared to handle both fire and water damage restoration tasks simultaneously. The company has been specialists in both of these restoration areas since 1968.

Company spokesperson, Kevin Finn, had this to say about why fire and water damage restoration services often need to be done together, “Everyone has heard the expression ‘where there’s smoke there’s fire’ but we feel that should be expanded upon to say, ‘and where there’s fire there’s water’. That’s because these days when someone has a fire take place on their property there is going to be some attempt to extinguish that fire with water. Often times the resulting water damage is worse than the damage that the actual fire caused. This is especially true in situations where a buildings sprinkler system goes off. In cases like this, even something like a small fire on a stove can cause an entire floor of a building to be saturated with water. When this happens, all that water will start ruining fabrics, woodwork and will also lead to rapid mold and mildew growth. This then will become a big project that only seasoned fire and water damage restoration companies like ours can handle.”

Finn went on to say that how they handle the fire and smoke restoration portion of the damaged structure depends on how big the fire was. He says that small fires that were quickly contained usually only result is smoke and soot damage that needs to be cleaned up. Larger fires will of course, require much more than that. The company spokesperson says that after a large fire has taken place their job will begin as soon as a fire marshal has given the go ahead that a structure is stable and safe to enter. They will start by helping the property owner salvage any of the contents in the home or building that were not impacted by the fire. This includes paperwork, supplies, inventory, computer systems, clothing, sentimental items and more. Finn says after that, they will clear out items that have been severely damage by the fire and prepare to haul them away. He went on to add once a building is ready for cleaning, they will leave no stone unturned getting that building back to normal by using advanced smoke and odor removal and deodorization techniques. They will even perform HVAC duct cleaning to NADCA standards.

As far as water damage restoration is concerned after any fire, Finn says this work is also meticulously performed by the company’s technicians using the latest and best equipment. That includes HEPA vacuums, air scrubbers, negative air fans, ozone machines, and state-of-the-art drying and moisture monitoring equipment. He says their equipment is designed to totally remove moisture and odors from such items as carpeting, drapes, and upholstery. In many cases they will even take mold remediation steps before considering that water damage restoration work to be finished.

Finn went on to say that those at the company cannot emphasize enough the urgency for people to get fire and water restoration started right away after an event takes place where these two conditions result. He says this is the very reason that St. Louis Cleaning & Restoration offers 24-hour emergency service. The company is available around the clock 365 days a year so they can quickly get on top of any fire and water damage that any home or commercial property has received. The company spokesperson added that there is no fire and water damage restoration project that is too big, too small or too difficult for St. Louis Cleaning & Restoration to handle.

According to Finn, the company also offers a wide variety of other reputable St. Louis area cleaning services such as air duct cleaning, carpet cleaning, dryer vent cleaning, hard surface cleaning, workplace bathroom cleaning, and trauma scene cleanup.
