Those at Apex Pest Control - Barnsley, are concerned with the number of bed bug infestations they have been seeing lately in this area of the UK. Those at the company feel the best way to combat this problem is to teach people how to identify and try to get rid of bed bugs on their own. They also want people to know that when all else fails, the bed bug extermination techniques that they use have proven to be very effective.

Company president, Tony Johnson, had this to say about these nuisance bugs, “Bed bugs are something that nobody wants in their home. Although they are small, their bites can be very irritating and bothersome. This is because they bite deep enough to draw blood. They are even known to cause rashes and other skin problems. Bed bugs have also been linked to anxiety issues and sleeplessness for those that cannot seem to get rid of these pests. We want people to know there are some ways they can prevent bed bug infestations and if their methods are not working ours certainly will.”

Johnson says the first step in handling a bed bug problem is to positively identify the presence of them. He says they often make their homes in walls first and then work their way towards bedding and other furniture that humans use. Bed bugs are hard to see with the naked eye because they are only half a centimeter long. They are typically light brown in color and may have a few black patches on their backside. The president says their backs are also shaped like a shield as they are flat across where their back meets the head and come to a point at the other end. Sometimes people will unwittingly crush them too and this often leaves a small reddish stain on white linens. Johnson says that bed bug infestations are also known to give off a foul odor at times.

He says that one of the best ways to spot them is to look for them at night with a flashlight and magnifying glass. Johnson says to check all around in such places as near the tags of mattresses and box springs, in cracks in the bed frame and headboard, near baseboards, under couch cushions, and underneath paintings and posters on the walls. He also mentioned that if a customer does not want to go through the trouble of doing this themselves, finding bed bug infestations is second nature for their experienced pest control service.

The company president went on to add that the best way for individuals to get rid of bed bugs is not to spray toxic chemicals all over the place. This only makes something bad become even worse. He advises people to do such things as washing all their bed linens thoroughly and to dry them on the highest heat setting. Next pick up all of the clutter in a room such as books, magazines, clothes and anything small that is on top of a table or the floor. This eliminates bed bug hiding spots. Johnson says to then completely vacuum all the rugs and furniture upholstery in a home. This includes vacuuming under and in-between furniture cushions where bed bugs like to hide. He says it’s even a good idea to run the vacuum over walls and bare floors too. The company president went on to suggest that after this is done the customer should then place bedbug-proof covers over all their mattresses and box springs. If this does not get rid of the problem, then it’s best to leave the next step to professionals.

Johnson says once a customer calls them for help with bed bug extermination, they will start by identifying where the bed bugs are and then isolating those areas. Next, they will take steps to get rid of any living bed bugs and their eggs. He says to complete the task they will treat the infested area in one of several different ways to make sure the bed bugs do not return.

The company president says that for those who want more information on how they get rid of bed bugs and dozens of other bothersome pests, all they have to do is visit their website. He stated that once there, an interested person can also read several pest control Barnsley reviews that have been written on them.
