Playa Sámara based Costa Rica School Of Massage Therapy (CRSMT) is pleased to announce the launch of their new continuing educational course in Advanced Orthopedic Massage, to be facilitated by instructors from Seminars for Health, Canada’s leading school for physical and massage therapy. This is also the first CRSMT course that qualifies for Canadian Continuing Education Requirements for Massage Therapists, and is open to all Canadian and US based massage therapists.
Founded in 2011, Seminars for Health has grown into Canada’s leader in Advanced Education for Massage Therapists. They offer more than 130 courses annually to support and enhance the massage therapy industry worldwide. Seminars for Health currently offers six certification courses and are now expanding their programs to other health care practitioners as well.
Meanwhile, as noted on CRSMT’s website at https://crsmt.com/advanced-orthopedic-massage-ceu-in-costa-rica/, the open enrollment for the Advanced Orthopedic Massage course has already begun, and students are advised to sign-up early due to limited availability. The course fee includes tuition, textbook, eight nights of lodging on CRSMT campus as well as airport pickup and dropoff. Additionally, students will have 1-2 free days for exploring and adventuring in Costa Rica.
“The course is specially designed to help massage therapists, chiropractors, physiotherapists, athletic therapists, nurses, and osteopaths improve their skills in advanced orthopedic massage. It was developed for LMTs, CMTs, and RMTs based on the practical application of physiotherapy,” says Tammy McGee from CRSMT. She explains that the instructors from Seminars for Health are trained in both physiotherapy and massage therapy, and will present the course with original concepts including muscle base, scooping, and vector of force. As the body is designed to move, the instructors will also give emphasis on moving the joints to achieve the desired effects.
Students will complete a 9-module course that includes the Fundamentals of Orthopedic Massage and regional focus on Anterior Neck, Posterior Neck, Chest, and Anterior Shoulder, Rotator Cuff, Lumbar and SI Joint, Hip and Thigh, Leg and Foot, and Forearm, Wrist and Hand. After completing the course, participants will receive 36 Hours NCBTMB Approved Continuing Education Credits (US recognized) or 40 Hours NHPC Approved Credits, 36 Hours CMMOTA, MTAA, MTAS, MTAM, CRMTA Approved Credits, 18 Hours CMTO Approved Credits (Canada recognized).
One of the course instructors is Mara Boaru, PT, BScPT, RMT, creator and instructor of SFH Intraoral TMJ with Precision Program and co-instructor of the SFH Advanced Orthopedic Massage certification courses. She obtained a degree in Physiotherapy in 2008 and went on to strengthen her hands-on skills with further application, graduating from Mount Royal University Massage Therapy program in 2010.
The Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy is the premier study-abroad program in the world for Massage Therapy Certification. CRSMT provides a variety of curricula that provide students with a solid foundation of knowledge and advanced skills in physical therapy. Most importantly, graduates of the CRSMT massage therapy programs are eligible for licensing in most regions of the United States, Canada, and many other places around the world.
In addition to the Advanced Orthopedic Massage course, CRSMT also offers a number of courses for their 2019-2020 programs. These include Shiatsu and Thai massage, deep massage, cupping therapy, oncology retreat, and more. They also provide their students with complementary lessons alongside their core curriculum. These include oncology massage, prenatal massage, traditional Chinese medicine, bodywork for PTSD, and many more.
One of their graduates, Maple Conn, in a glowing review at goabroad.com, says, “The program is very rigorous, and incredibly rewarding. It is a very fast paced and intense program and, although it is located in paradise, your time will not feel like a vacation. Be prepared to buckle down and focus while you're here since there is a ton of material covered in a fairly short period of time. I was a little concerned about feeling overwhelmed and alone when I came there but the worry disappeared after day one. My roommates and peers have been incredible, the staff is very organized, and the surrounding community is super supportive.”
Complete details about the course can be found on the CRSMT website. Alternatively, enrollees may call the school’s toll-free hotline or send an email to inquire about the program. Furthermore, interested parties may connect with CRSMT through their official social media pages to stay up to date with their latest news and important announcements.
