Insurance Covered Breast Pumps, based in Bloomington, Illinois, has announced that infant nutrition covered by insurance is possible. The company is a full service online provider of insurance covered breast pumps. They support mothers through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which mandates health plans to cover breastfeeding support and supplies. Thus, aside from breast pumps, infant formulas can also be covered by insurance, particularly the three types of specialized formulas made available through their site.

A spokesperson for Insurance Covered Breast Pumps says, “You can search through available formulas to find the best fit for your infant, toddler, or child. We offer three types of specialized formulas: Metabolic, Allergy, & Premature Infant. Once you have selected the formula that best meets the needs of your child, complete the Qualify Through Insurance form. We offer free shipping throughout the United States.”

Under ACA, breastfeeding service and supplies are a covered benefit and many health plans have been mandated to implement this change with the first plan/policy year that started on or after August 1, 2012. For those who have a private insurance plan or commercial insurer, this law is applicable to their plans. Those who need more information about the ACA can check out HHS.gov and Healthcare.gov.

Insurance Covered Breast Pumps has agreements with most commercial insurance companies with regards to the coverage of metabolic, allergy and premature infant formulas. They will collaborate with the insurance company of each customer to file an insurance claim on behalf of the customers. Many health insurance plans cover specialized formulas for infants and toddlers. Those who want to obtain these specialized formulas at no cost because insurance will pay for them can check out the Insurance Covered Breast Pumps web page on qualifying through insurance for infant nutrition.

They will need to complete an online form after which the company will contact the insurance company and then inform the customers about their infant formula coverage. The company will then request for a prescription from the customer’s doctor and submit the necessary paperwork for the insurance. Once the insurance company has approved it, the company will ship the formula directly to the customer’s home, without shipping charges.

For premature infant formulas, available through Insurance Covered Breast Pumps is the Enfamil EnfaCare® NeuroPro-Milk-based, 22 cal discharge formula. This is for babies who were born with low birth weight or were born prematurely. It is commonly used during the first year of life for infants from approximately 1.8 kilograms in weight.

For the metabolic formulas, there are several possible choices but all from MeadJohnson. These include the WND® 2 iron-fortified medical food powder for children and adults; WND® 1 iron-fortified infant formula and medical food powder for infants and toddlers; TYROS 2 iron-fortified medical food powder for children and adults with tyrosinemia; TYROS 1 infant formula and medical food powder for infants and toddlers; Phenyl-Free® 2 HP high protein medical food powder for children and adults; Phenyl-Free® 2 medical food powder for children and adults; Phenyl-Free® 1 iron-fortified infant formula and medical food powder; PFD 2 protein- and amino acid-free product; and the PFD Toddler protein- and amino acid-free product.

For the allergy formulas, there are four available formulas. These include the PurAmino™ Jr Vanilla - hypoallergenic amino acid-based medical food; PurAmino™ Jr - hypoallergenic amino acid-based medical food; PurAmino™ - hypoallergenic amino acid-based formula; and Nutramigen® with Enflora™ LGG® - dietary management of cow’s milk allergy.

It should be noted that aside from infant nutrition and breast pumps, customers can use their website to browse other products. The various categories available on the site include bags, breast pumps, infant nutrition, breast care, insurance covered breast pumps, compression socks, pump accessories, and maternity support belts.

Those who need more information regarding infant nutrition that can be covered by insurance can visit their website at Insurancecoveredbreastpumps.com, or contact them on the phone or through email. They are open from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CST.
