Dr. Thornton was raised in Frisco, Texas and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. He received his medical degree from the UNT Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. After completing his five-year residency in general surgery at Michigan State University affiliated hospitals, Dr. Thornton completed a one-year fellowship in surgical critical care and trauma surgery at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, where he received extensive training in the management and reconstruction of complex traumatic injuries.
