Lighthouse Treatment Center Takes Alumni to Newport Dunes’ Movies on the Beach.

Anaheim, California – The Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol residential treatment facility in Anaheim, CA, is hosting a trip for members of its alumni program to “Movies on the Beach” at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort and Marina. This activity is part of the weekly events organized by the Lighthouse Alumni Program during the summer season.

“Movies on the Beach” is a popular outdoor movie experience in Southern California that offers visitors of Newport Dunes a chance to watch family-friendly film favorites and enjoy warm summer evenings by the beach. Admission to the movie event is free and attendees can lounge on the sand or bring floaters to watch from the water.

Jocel Bibera, alumni coordinator at the Lighthouse, said that while it is more common for people nowadays to watch movies alone at home, an outdoor movie activity is a unique experience as it allows people to gather and build a sense of community with one another. This is very important for people in recovery, as they need to re-integrate themselves back into society as well as create new memories.

“The immersive experience of watching a movie with other people coupled with the calming atmosphere of being by the beach is just one of the activities we want to introduce to our alumni members to make them realize that they can have fun and enjoy sobriety. With the Lighthouse being located in Southern California, we are fortunate to have these activities at close proximity.”

Newport Dunes is less than an hour’s drive from the Lighthouse, making it a great venue for a weekend trip. This year, the Lighthouse alumni members have chosen to schedule the trip to catch the screening of the 1995 adventure film Jumanji.

One of the Lighthouse alumni, Xochiti, shared that all the members of the Lighthouse Alumni Program are looking forward to this unique experience. “It will be another amazing evening shared with our fellow alumni and also an opportunity to meet new friends while watching a classic film that will surely bring back fond childhood memories.”
