Meet Positives, a website that works towards giving people living with STDs a place to find love, has just announce the introduction of new services that aim at providing at-home STD test kits.
During the announcement, the founder of Meet Positives, Jack Lombardi said, “There are many reasons hey people are afraid to get tested for various STDs. Of these reasons, the main ones include embarrassment and stigma associated with the entire testing process. Most people will not want to walk into a testing clinic for fear of being judged by the people there and the medical practitioners handling the process.”
The at-home testing kit are aimed at ensuring that the people who are afraid of getting tested at the doctor’s office or at a testing center can take advantage of the privacy offered by these test kits. The kits are sample collection packs that are sent over to a person’s home and the samples are sent to a lab for examination. The kit can cover a number of STDs or a single STD depending on what is ordered. The results will then be sent through private channels such as through email.
This takes the need to go to a testing center out of the picture. This can be used to test for an STD when getting into a new relationship. However, those people who test positive for an STD need to visit a doctor for better treatment
