Mike Marko Publishes “Questions to Ask Your Followers on Instagram”

Mike Marko of IM Consultant Services has just released a post about the best “questions to ask your followers on Instagram”. Marko says that his latest article is designed to show business owners doing their own Instagram marketing how to provoke engagement. According to Marko, the easiest way to do that is to ask questions. In his article, he shows his readers exactly what sort of questions are best when it comes to marketing.

“We all know that most social media marketing focuses on engagement and audience retention,” he says. “Unfortunately, many business owners don’t know how to go about securing those things for their brands on platforms like Instagram. They wing it and sometimes it goes well, but sometimes it doesn’t. At some point, they find themselves losing their audiences because they no longer interest them or give them a reason to engage. That’s where good marketing questions come in… and that’s what my post is about.”

The idea, Marko claims, is to ensure that a business’s audience is sufficiently interested to keep them “tuned in” to the business’s marketing efforts. Marko believes this can be achieved by using what he terms “catchy questions” that can encourage an audience to participate in a conversation with the brand.

“In that way, you’re not just getting people’s attention,” he says. “You’re doing something even more important, business-wise. That is, you’re connecting with your audience. That conversation, the back-and-forth as you ask questions and get answers, is a way to build a bond with your customers. It might help you get more loyal clients as time goes on. It could even be part of your strategy to get followers on Instagram.”

Marko goes on to outline his tips for creating interesting, engagement-stimulating questions to ask on Instagram. The first tip he delivers is to get personal. Marko believes that many business owners remain fearful of getting personal with their customers, but notes that it may actually be an advantage in areas like social media marketing. For example, he advises his readers to try asking their customers how they personally use the brand’s products or services.

“This is actually one of the best questions to ask on Instagram,” says Marko. “For one thing, it gives you a chance to grab some nice user-generated content from your clients. You can share it with others on the platform itself, which is a good Instagram social media strategy. Besides that, it also gives you more ideas for how to market your products or services, as you get to see the ways they’re of value to real clients.”

Another suggestion Marko has is to start a Q&A or question and answer session with a business’s audience. Marko believes that this offers a prime opportunity for both parties to get a better understanding of each other, besides letting the brand establish a reputation as one that cares about its clients’ concerns. He notes that in this scenario, the business will not be the only one asking the questions. He asserts that this can be a good way for businesses to learn more about their customers’ needs and get ideas for improvement of their products or services.

He goes on to suggest that businesses have some fun with the questions they ask their customers on Instagram. Marko points out that big brands such as Coca Cola and Wendy’s do this often on their social media marketing accounts, in a bid to both entertain and engage customers.

“You can try asking trivia-related questions or even doing little quizzes,” says Marko. “It can be a bit of friendly competition among your followers to see who answers first. A lot of people actually enjoy things like this -- see how popular game shows on trivia are, for instance -- so you can leverage public interest in such games for your marketing. Don’t be afraid to have fun with it!”

Marko also suggests that his readers try asking their followers to tag others on Instagram posts, to encourage others to join the dialogue. His other suggestions include posting a question on a trendy topic related to the business, doing quick surveys of the business’s followers, asking for comments or suggestions related to the brand, and asking questions that pique curiosity in the brand’s client community. He also suggests posting fill-in-the-blank content, as well as questions that surprise customers by letting them indulge in their wildest fantasies or dream futures.
