Anaheim, California – The Lighthouse Treatment Center, a drug and alcohol treatment center in Anaheim, California, is set to participate in the 2019 H&I Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, June 22nd. The event, hosted by the South Orange County Hospitals & Institutions Committee (SOCHIC), will be held at Laguna Niguel Regional Park from 11 in the morning until 3 in the afternoon and is open to the public to attend.
According to Frank Healey, a member of the 2019 Chili Cook-Off Committee, the annual fundraiser was launched to help people in jails and treatment centers who are working to achieve sobriety.
“Many people in recovery do not have the financial capability to purchase relevant Alcoholics Anonymous literature and supplies that could significantly help them become better. The money raised from the Chili Cook-Off will go towards buying these AA materials for those who are in need but do not have the means to purchase them on their own,” said Healey.
During the event, there will be themed booths manned by the participating teams. Each team is required to cook ten gallons of chili and encouraged to bring booth decorations and chili add-ons to make their chili stand out. At the end of the event, the prize for the best homemade chili will be awarded to the worthy team.
The Lighthouse team claimed the top prize for Best Chili in 2017 and this year, they are eager to reclaim their title by serving the greatest homemade chili that attendees from all over Orange County have yet to taste. Tamara Jimenez, Community Relations Manager of the Lighthouse, said that participating in this local event is a remarkable way to give back to the community.
“The Lighthouse has always been committed to supporting events that aim to uplift the lives of people who are on a journey towards sobriety. Not only is the Chili Cook-Off a fun way to spend the weekend with the community but it also provides us the opportunity to participate in a good cause,” said Jimenez.
Lighthouse Treatment Center is a complete-care drug and alcohol detox and addiction treatment facility in Orange County, California, and has helped over 20,000 people recover from alcoholism and substance abuse over 20 years of business.
