Senior Care Center is a company that is dedicated to helping aging individuals to find adequate care for their golden years. The California based company regularly provides information and tips for the aging. The company recently discussed aging and how diet and exercise can help the elderly to live a longer and happier life.

More from the company can be seen at https://srcarecenter.com/our-service/. In their latest information, the company highlights exercise for seniors and explains how regular exercise can help to alleviate pain and provide seniors with a higher quality of life. Casey Ryeback, a representative from the company says, “Many people as they age simply stop exercising. They feel that perhaps exercise is too difficult and in some cases this may be true. Regular exercise that is geared toward seniors however can provide many benefits.”

The National Institute on Aging agrees. The NIA says that regular exercise that is designed for the elderly has been proven to reduce the risk of heart disease, as well as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, osteoporosis, and many types of cancer. It can also help to lower the risk of injuries related to falls.

“Fall related injuries are the number one reported injury for the elderly,” says the representative for Senior Care. “Regular exercise helps to strengthen muscles and bones and can help to restore balance. Loss of balance can prove very risky in those over the age of 65, and falls can be detrimental to one’s overall health. Exercise, combined with a nutritious diet, can help to eliminate these risks.”

A recent post by A Mom Life also agrees. The post states that exercise is crucial for those entering their twilight years, and outlines some of the most beneficial exercises that seniors can do. Aging can cause muscle mass to decrease up to 15 percent overall. Regular weightlifting, at a rate of no more than just two or three times per week, can help to increase balance and bone density, reducing the risk of falls and other injuries.

Senior Care says that seniors simply do not know that they are able to exercise on a regular basis. Ryeback says, “The common belief is that as one ages, they have to be careful. They have to avoid anything that could cause them to overstress their bodies. Doctors and numerous studies have shown that the actual opposite is true. Regular exercise, and that means two to three times per week and exercises that are designed to help strengthen bodies and not overwhelm them, can help seniors to feel better, look better and be healthier overall.”

Exercises can include something as simple as walking for a few minutes each day. Most physicians agree that simply walking to a mailbox or just past a long driveway a few days per week can help the senior to strengthen their bodies, which in turn helps them to avoid certain injuries and can ward off serious health concerns. Along with exercise, comes a good diet. Doctors recommend diets high in fiber, which includes a number of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoiding foods high in sugar and fat can help in the diet. Senior Care states that this is a very doable diet, even for seniors who are living on a fixed income. The overall benefit of a combination of diet and exercise can actually help the senior to save money on health costs by avoiding many trips to the doctor and emergency medical services due to falls and other illnesses.

Senior Care helps to match seniors with assisted living facilities and other resources that are designed to help the elderly to live healthier and happier throughout their golden years. Those with questions or anyone who would like to learn more about how diet and exercise can benefit the aging can visit the company on their website or contact them directly either by phone or by email to speak with a representative.
