LuxeOrganix, a health and beauty company in Mesa, AZ, has revealed the findings from their research on the harmful effects that sulfates have on your hair. Sulfates, a lather-producing chemical, are commonly found in a wide variety of popular name brand shampoos.

In response to claims made by companies whom are using sulfates that, "sulfates are no big deal," Co-Founder Christine Kominiak responded with, "The fact that more and more people are struggling with dry, itchy scalps, split ends, losing hair color, and even losing their hair, suggests otherwise that sulfates are leading to significant damage."

Studies have proven that sulfates cause irritation to the hair, the scalp and the eyes. Some people even experienced severe allergic reactions. Furthermore, these chemicals actually strip the hair of essential oils. This means the hair will look and feel much drier and brittle, thus, it loses its shine. Due to the potency of chemicals in the hair, the cumulative effect can become worse over time.

Perhaps the most worrying aspect is that the negative effects of sulfates can occur with a concentration of just 0.5%. This is worrisome as most shampoos contain between 10% and 15%, which shows just how harmful this can actually be. The conclusion of the research, therefore, was that people should be encouraged to safer alternatives, such as sulfate free shampoos, as well as hair styling products that do not contain sulfates.

LuxeOrganix's Rejuvenating Argan Oil products, for instance, include a sulfate free shampoo. It is completely sulfate free and has been highly reviewed by many people who have experienced healing and repair to both their damaged hair and scalp. These consumers mentioned improvements after switching to the sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner, which further demonstrate just how harmful standard shampoos are.

Jenea Ortiz, for instance, is a licenced cosmetologist, whom works with a broad spectrum of hair products in her profession. She stated, "My husband is allergic to many products, he has used this for nearly a month and his scalp loves it. Normally his scalp is very dry and flaky, now it is almost normal again. I think this is one of the best products I have ever tried."

Though some dermatologists aren't completely against sulfates, many do recommend switching to sulfate free shampoo and hair styling products if you have allergies, eczema or currently have an irritated scalp. Dr. Rebecca Baxt, a New York-based dermatologist, advises there will be an adjustment going from a sulfate-based shampoo to sulfate-free. She has explained, "Without sulfates there is usually no "lather" or bubbles when you wash so it takes getting used to... it might not feel like it is cleansing as much but it should still clean the scalp adequately." The lesson: less suds don't mean that your sulfate free shampoo isn't as effective as mainstream sulfate-based shampoos.

One reviewer of LuxeOrganix's sulfate free shampoo shared, "I've only been using these products for a few days but already have seen great improvement. My hair is soft and glossy and my curls are bouncy. Frizz seems to have gone by the way side as well."
