My Next Puppy has announced a new blog post that provides helpful information regarding Bernese Mountain Dog puppies. The article is titled, “What Every Prospective Bernese Mountain Dog Owner Should Know” and provides helpful content about this particular breed, such as why they were bred, whether these dogs can live in hot climates, and why these dogs drool. The blog post can be found at

A spokesperson for My Next Puppy says, “We are not your average pet store operation. We offer over 35 years in industry experience. We care about our puppies and insure quality breeders with the highest standards for your new puppy. Every breeder is federally licensed and in compliance with USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) laws. Every breeder is responsible and held accountable. Each and every puppy goes home with the best health guarantees, pet insurance, microchipping, AKC or AKC Partners registration as well as a complete take home package with training materials and take home essentials.”

On the My Next Puppy site, they have also provided answers to some questions regarding the Bernese Mountain Dog. This can be found at First of all, they point out that the Bernese Mountain Dog is a suitable family dog. Affectionately referred to as the Berner, this dog is intelligent, gentle, loyal, affectionate, generally goo-mannered, and eager to please. It has a great temperament and it is easy to train. The Berner can get along with adults and children of any age, but it does require a home with large fenced yards for playing.

Another important issue has to do with the serious health problems that the Bernese Mountain Dog is susceptible to. The most common diseases are cancer, particularly histiocytic sarcoma, and orthopedic diseases, such as hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia. This particular breed is also susceptible to bloat, epilepsy, heart disease, and eye diseases, such as cataracts and retinal atrophy. Thus, it is advisable to inquire regarding genetic testing when buying a Berner.

Another question is whether Bernese Mountain Dogs will make good guard dogs. It is pointed out that Bernese Mountain Dogs were historically used as farm dogs. As such, one of their roles was to guard the farm from predators. However, because these dogs tend to be non-aggressive and gentle, they tend to be non-threatening towards strangers. A Berner may bark to warn strangers that they need to stay away but it will not likely bite or attack a stranger. Thus, it is better suitable as a watchdog, rather than a guard dog.
