Texas Foundation Pros, a repair service for foundations based out of Grand Prairie, Texas, has recently published a blog post on the importance of getting a proper foundation inspection for the home. The company says that changing weather conditions can affect the soil underneath the foundation, and getting an inspection is critical to ensuring that the foundation does not suffer any further damage, which can put the home at risk.

Robert Hinson from Texas Foundation Pros says, "When it comes to the home, a lot of homeowners don't realize that one of the most important parts of the house is right there underneath their feet. The foundation of the home can go through many changes, especially when it comes to the expansive soil here in Texas. People may think that getting their foundation inspected is a complicated process, but in actuality, it's easy for experts like us."

Hinson says there are a number of signs that homeowners should look for if they think they need a foundation inspection. The first is a sagging floor structure. If a home has floor cracks, sinking or heaving concrete slabs, interior doors that jam, or a floor that sags toward the center of the house, there may be a problem. Signs that a house may need to have its foundation inspected include gaps around doors or window frames that make them difficult to close or open, a tilting chimney, a sinking or settling foundation, cracks in the foundation, wall or floor, and foundation upheaval.

The first step in the process for homeowners is to meet with a contractor. The contractor will come to the home and will check for signs that there are problems, including if there are any large trees near the house that may damage the slab, as well as do a thorough inspection of the exterior of the house. The contractor will look at the slab, the fascia boards, and the brick veneer of the house to determine if there is any damage and how much of it is there.

Once the contractor has looked at the house, they will determine what kind of foundation repair needs to be done, if any. During a pier and beam repair, typically a repair design by a field technician will come to the house to analyze what needs to be repaired without causing damage to the home. Once the analysis is finished, the various points of installation for the new foundation are determined. At that point, any plant life around the foundation is cleared out and tarps put down on the lawn surrounding the home to help keep it in good condition while work is being done. The repair company will then dig a hole to create an access to the place in the foundation that needs to be repaired.

During the repair, a number of tools including a hydraulic jam and a hydraulic jack are used to move pipes and parts of the interior floor levels to their right places and fix them to be evened out. Once the floor is raised, concrete cylinders that provide long-term support will replace the hydraulic jacks. When the repairs are finished, the foundation will be filled back in and any debris will be cleaned up.

"We ensure that all of our repairs are done right the first time," Hinson states. "When we come out to inspect your home, we will give you a fair estimate on any work that needs to be done. Our staff is well-trained and well-versed in the ins and outs of effective foundation repair. We take pride in our quality of service, and offer lifetime guarantee on all our work."

As a family-owned business since 1987, Texas Foundation Pros started in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area of Texas, providing structural repair to houses in the area. Since then, the company has expanded to many more parts of the state, including Grand Prairie. The Hunt family has over 40 years of home construction experience and knowledge that they bring to every repair job.

The professionalism of the company's work has garnered a number of 5-star reviews on the web. Jade O. on Google Maps said in a 5-star review, "Good company for foundation repair. They provided a detailed inspection of the foundation, confirmed the readings and walked me through the proposed work with a very knowledgeable explanation."
