ABC Contracting in Foristell, Missouri, has announced that they are now offering asbestos testing St Louis homes and offices can count on. The company recently stated that they are proud to be offering testing for asbestos throughout the St. Louis region and states that anyone who feels that they may be exposed to asbestos in a residential or commercial structure should contact them immediately to schedule a testing.

Tina Benton, a spokesperson for the company says, "Our inspectors can inspect your home or office and test any materials that we suspect may contain asbestos. Our goal is to keep you safe and if asbestos is found, we offer professional removal services, as well."

The company states that they can assess residential and commercial buildings for asbestos and then advise customers on the steps that will be needed in order to correct the problem. If inspectors determine that there is asbestos and that asbestos removal will be needed, they can ensure that contractors follow the proper protocol for removal and will monitor the air inside the structure to ensure that there are no toxic fibers released into the air.

"When we say thorough exam, that's what we mean," says Benton. "Our inspectors will provide a visual examination of the area and then collect and analyze samples to ensure that we know without a doubt whether or not asbestos is in your home or business."

Benton says that the company will also provide the customer with a written report that states the specific location of the asbestos and the amount of damage done by the substance. They will then recommend removals and check to ensure that the area is thoroughly cleaned afterward to ensure against future exposure.

Benton says that some areas that are commonly tested inside homes and commercial buildings include surface materials like sprayed or plastered ceilings, decking materials and fireproofing materials such as insulation. Pipes, ducts, tanks and other areas may also be inspected. Asbestos is also commonly found in ceiling or floor tiles, siding and roofing materials and cement panels. All of these are areas that inspectors may check to ensure that a home or commercial building is free from asbestos.

Benton says that many of today's products do not contain asbestos. While it was commonly used as insulation during the earlier part of the century, after the 1970s, it was all but banned from use. During the 1970s, however, many building products and insulation contained asbestos, so the company states that for safety, any building or structure that was constructed before 1980 should be inspected to see if there is any asbestos present.

Some of the most common places where ABC Contracting states that they find asbestos includes floor tiles, sound proofing and decorative materials that are often sprayed on ceilings and walls, artificial ashes used for gas fireplaces and many other materials used in construction.

The company says that they are now pleased to be providing asbestos inspections for homes and businesses in the St. Louis area and says that any home or business owner who feels that they may have been exposed to asbestos or who believes that their building may contain this harmful material should contact them immediately. Benton says that it is dangerous to touch or otherwise move asbestos and says that the removal of this material should always be left up to professionals. Asbestos that is in good shape will typically not release any fibers into the air. However, the common consumer does not know what good shape looks like and therefore the company says that they should leave it alone and contact a professional for inspection and removal.

Exposure to asbestos can cause a number of debilitating and often fatal diseases such as mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a form of lung cancer that involves the lining of the chest and the abdominal cavity. In patients with mesothelioma, the lungs become scarred with fibrous tissue. Asbestosis is another harmful disease that can be caused by exposure to asbestos. Asbestosis is a respiratory disease that can cause shortness of breath and sounds in the lungs when inhaling. In severe advanced cases, asbestosis can cause cardiac failure.

ABC Contracting states that being exposed to asbestos in any instance is dangerous. Those who feel that they may have an asbestos problem should contact the company directly or by visiting their official website. Their website contains more information about asbestos and its dangers.
