London X City, an online magazine based in London, England, has recently reported on the rape case of former JLS member Ortise Williams. The article has been posted ahead of a recent court date scheduled for October 11th, 2018.

"This case against Williams immediately caused a scandal in the UK," says Chloe from London X City. "Not only because Williams was a part of such a popular boy band, but the fact that he and his friend Jamie Nagadhana were both recharged in the case with an upcoming court appearance has whipped the media into a frenzy."

Initially, Williams and Nagadhana were both arrested in December of 2016 on formal charges of sexual assault on a 20 year-old woman after a show in Wolverhampton. The two immediately posted bail, and the case was left cold until the two were charged again on September 12th, 2018. Williams and Nagadhana are set to appear in court on charges of assault involving penetration.

The victim in the case says that she and a friend were fans of Williams and his former band JLS, and wanted to see him play a show in Wolverhampton. They visited with Williams and Nagadhana after the show, and were invited back to the hotel with the men. After the two women left, the victim went back to retrieve a lost purse, and says that Williams and Nagadhana raped her.

The 31 year-old Williams is a former member of British boy band JLS (Jack the Lad Swing), initially formed in 2007 by Williams with bandmates Marvin Humes, Aston Merrygold, and J.B. Gill. The band, originally formed under the moniker UFO, auditioned for the UK version of The X Factor in 2008. Realizing they had to change their name, the group went with JLS. The new name, a variation on the American New Jack Swing genre of R&B, helped propel the group through the reality competition.

As the fourth musical group to make it to the show's final round, they eventually came in second place in the competition. The award-winning group eventually signed with Epic Records in the UK and Jive Records in the US. Worldwide, the group sold more than 10 million records, 6 million in the UK alone. The group eventually disbanded in 2013, whereupon Williams embarked on a solo career.

Chloe from https://www.londonxcity.com says, "Many people were shocked when the charges were announced. Many media outlets have tried to get ahold of the victim with no success. Meanwhile, Williams has had to step back out of the public eye for a bit because of the public response to the charges."

According to the magazine, representatives for Williams say he has denied all of the allegations, but the public's reaction to the charges has been "overwhelming" for the singer. While on bail, Williams was still active on social media, but the bad press around the charges made him step back from charity events. London X City reports that Williams took a 16-week social media break in order to keep a low-key profile.

Meanwhile, the former bandmates of Williams have expressed their support for their friends. Aston Merrygold has posted on Instagram about Williams and Nagadhana being "selfless, humble, and hardworking". He pledged his support and loyalty to his friends.

London X City has recently reported on a number of recent news stories in the celebrity world as well as the world of sport. After this past summer's successful World Cup for France's team, the English Premier League has started with its own rumor mill about Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho's "borrowed time" with the club after losing two of their first four games of the season.

The magazine has also looked at the recent Naomi Osaka-Serena Williams match at the U.S. Open. The highly-anticipated match imploded in the second set after judge Carlos Ramos gave Williams a warning that she was being coached from the stands. Williams told the coach she had never cheated in her life, and would "rather lose." During the next serve, Williams's frustration came to a head when she committed a double fault, wherein she slammed her racket on the court, breaking it and causing another code violation. Eventually the match escalated to Williams calling Ramos a thief for taking a point away and asking for an apology. The frustration caused Williams to lose the second set and the match at 5-4.

"We love to cover everything from a London perspective," Chloe says. "This city has such a rich culture and unique look on the world as a major metropolitan area. We cover so many different aspects of lifestyle, and readers can find more stories here."
