Lincoln, Nebraska (Press Advantage) September 1, 2018 - The 2018 Tour de USA for Prostate Cancer Awareness arrived in Lincoln, Nebraska on September 1, 2018, on Day 7 of it’s 23-day road rally across the western United States in support of National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Prostate Cancer takes the lives of almost 29,000 American men each year – a man lost to their family every 18 minutes.

Manhattan Beach, California resident and Cancer Journeys Foundation CEO Robert Hess created the Tour de USA® road rally as a way to dramatically reduce America’s annual prostate cancer death toll.

Said Hess, “Prostate cancer claims the lives of almost 29,000 American men every year because these men don’t know they have the disease in time for effective treatment. Our mission with the 2018 Tour de USA® is to make certain men know about their prostate cancer risk (one in six men will have the disease) and about the Foundation’s simple prostate cancer risk awareness tool, ProstateTracker.org.”

The Tour de USA® began August 26, 2018 at the headquarters of CancerAid, located in the Cedars Sinai/Techstars medical incubator Los Angeles, and will finish there on September 18th.

People all across the US can follow the Tour de USA’s progress at https://tourdeusa.events/location/.

“We’re really excited about the Tour de USA®,” said Hess. “Beating prostate cancer means finding it early and we are part of a great team of people and organizations working together to get the message out. At the grassroots level, we have Shelley Martin, Peace Out Prostate Cancer, in Scottsdale; Steven Hentzen’s Prostate Network in Kansas City; Daryl Mittledorf at MaleCare; Dr. Mark Scholz at the Prostate Cancer Research Institute; and many others. It’s going to be a fantastic adventure. We’re driving some great roads and helping to end prostate cancer.”

“The Tour de USA is in Lincoln to participate in the Sports Car Club of America’s annual National ProSolo Autocross championships. More that 1,500 drivers are converging on Lincoln Airpark to win a coveted national championship title. We won’t win but our prostate cancer awareness car will certainly be visible!” said Hess.

“Along with our ProstateTracker early detection system, I’m telling people about the CancerAid smart phone application, which is a great tool for cancer survivors and their support group.”
