Milton Auto Machine Shop Owner Awarded Boss of the Year

Milton, Florida - Butler's Auto Recycling, a salvage yard in Milton, FL, is proud to have had one of their owners, Jim Butler, receive Locator UpFront’s Boss of the Year in 2018. Twenty-six of his employees nominated him for this award which allowed him to receive the achievement.

His lead salesman, Justin Glass has said of him, "Jim has worked tirelessly all of his life for the betterment of the company, his employees, and his community."

Jim co-owns Butler’s Auto Recycling in Milton, FL with his parents. The shop began with his father in 1977, but the family has been in the car business since his grandfather in 1950. Jim has created a family-like work atmosphere that has made people enjoy going to work. He will occasionally host cookouts at the shop with his employees, their families, and people in the area which has built him a good name in the community.

His management tactics have improved throughout the years since he first started managing. Instead of trying to fix everything in the shop, he taught his employees how to do things and empowered them to fix their own mistakes and learn from them. He strives to make the Milton auto parts store a place where his employees enjoy working. Another way he has improved his management is by recognizing all of his employees’ accomplishments. He uses the comment cards that are placed at the front counter to encourage his employees. The bad comment cards he will use to talk privately with the specific employee to work the issue out.

"Jim is a very good teacher that can teach you a ton of valuable information about the recycling business," said his dismantler supervisor, Darryl McCants.
