Music school founder Brian Eliason pointed out Augusta Schubert, the guest soloist for the Oregon East Symphony’s season finale, as an example on how summer music camps can hone skills.

"Music summer camps allow children explore new things such as compose his or her own music while stepping out of their comfort zone and overcome fears," said Eliason. "Schubert's level of skill is a testament on how these summer camps can bring a child's music skills to the next level," said Eliason.
The summer music camps that Schubert has attended includes Credo Oberlin and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Violin Workshop. Most recently, she placed second in the Houston Civic Symphony concerto competition, and she was awarded honorable mention in the Juanita Miller Concerto Competition — 2017 marked her third year of participating in the All-State Orchestra at the Texas Music Educators Association convention in San Antonio.
Schubert is co-concertmaster of the Midway High School Camerata Orchestra and Waco Symphony Youth Orchestra. The teenager’s musical lineage includes her mother, Amanda Schubert, who is a violin instructor at Central Texas String Academy, and her father, Mark Schubert, is a lecturer on trumpet at Baylor University. Both are members of the Waco Symphony and will join the Oregon East Symphony as section musicians.
The program’s centerpiece is Felix Mendelssohn’s “Violin Concerto,” which features the Midway High School (Waco, Texas) junior.
The concert program also will feature a performance of Beethoven’s “Second Symphony” and Mozart’s “Overture to Don Giovanni.” A reception in the Vert Club Room will follow the concert.
The performance is Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the Vert Auditorium, 480 S.W. Dorion Ave., Pendleton.
