Thousand Oaks, Calif. - Local Ventura County Express Employment Professionals offices presented a check for $1,850 to the nonprofit organization Lighthouse for Women and Children collected during their annual Pay-It-Forward Holiday Hiring Drive. The overall goal for the Pay-It-Forward campaign was to have the recruitment company in Thousand Oaks, CA place as many unemployed local residents into available jobs as possible during the holiday season, which is the busiest time of the year for most local businesses. Express donated $50.00 to Lighthouse for every unemployed job seeker hired by a local employer during the holiday season.

The employment company in Thousand Oaks, CA partnered with Lighthouse for Women and Children which is a nonprofit organization that assists homeless single women and women with children. In 1998, the organization established its Life Recovery program which offers a transitional living program that also provides recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. The Lighthouse for Women and Children established a year-round emergency shelter which has the capability to serve as an overflow shelter when the two domestic violence shelters in the county are at full capacity. The Lighthouse for Women and Children organization can provide 112 beds and offers a full range of care specifically tailored to the needs of homeless women and children.

Ventura County businesses also benefited from the program as employers gained a qualified worker during some of the busiest months of the year. In addition, every employer who hired an Express associate had a chance to give the gift of employment to a job seeker who would not otherwise be working during the holidays.

The Hiring Drive occurs annually from late November through December. The Express office continued to extend the dates of the Hiring Drive, allowing the Express staff to assist more job seekers each year during the time of year when people need jobs the most. Every Express associate is screened and evaluated before being assigned to any job positions in fields such as commercial, administrative, and professional.
