MANHATTAN BEACH, CALIFORNIA. Manhattan Beach-based Cancer Journeys Foundation Announced that it will drive it community outreach car in its first Sports Car Club of America Track Day at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California on Saturday, February 24, 2018.
One of the Cancer Journeys Foundation’s (CJF) major programs is prostate cancer early detection and prevention and CJF president Robert Hess wrapped his personal Mazda MX-5 Miata in bright yellow with the ProstateTracker message all over the car to attract attention.
“The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) has a number of great driving programs for car enthusiast,” said Hess.
According to Hess, “We have been very active in the bicycling community with great success and two years ago we decided to engage with the auto enthusiast segment. We’ve been autocrossing with the Cal Club, the southern California region of the SCCA, for the past two years. It’s been super fun and we’ve helped a lot of guys understand prostate cancer risk and how our ProstateTrackerApp finds prostate cancer when its still treatable.”
“Prostate cancer is the second most common male cancer and claims the lives of almost 29,000 men each year because the find out they have the disease too late for effective treatment,” says Robert Hess, Cancer Journeys Foundation president.
According to Hess, “We wanted to develop a very simple early detection solution that would be free and available to all men and their families. We teamed with Infobridge Solutions to develop the Internet-based ProstateTrackerApp that uses the PSA blood test to make a man’s prostate cancer risk clearly visible. That’s the message that we take to men at the SCCA events we attend.”
