On 13 July 2017, both KDU University College and Canon Malaysia presented yet another benefit for KDU students by providing the Canon Seeding Fund Financial Support. The Canon Seeding Fund is with the purpose of providing students equal opportunity for education and for this year, three fortunate and deserving KDU students were selected.

Held on KDU University College’s Utropolis, Glenmarie campus, the Canon Seeding Fund Awards presentation doubled also as the Canon CEO’s Inspiring Talk, which was delivered by President and CEO of Canon Marketing Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Mr Andrew Koh.

Mr Koh introduced his talk by entitling it, All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten. In it, Mr Koh spoke from three points he had in a form of a presentation. Leading with his first point, Mr Koh mentioned, “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you respond to it. How we respond to circumstances has everything to do with what will happen to your future.” Mr Koh continued, “Don’t forget your roots. Never forget the key people that have helped and supported you along the way,” in elaborating his second point. “Success is never final; Failure is never fatal. Always push yourself outside your comfort zone and don’t ever be afraid to embrace new challenges,” Mr Koh said in closing his third and final point.

During the Canon Seeding Fund awards presentation, the three awardees selected and announced were Lam Chee Yan – a Bachelor of Software Engineering student, Leong Shu Yin – a Bachelor of Business student, and Nur Adrina Alissa – a Bachelor of Business student.

The three deserving students each received RM5,600 in financial aid (amounting to a grand total of RM 16,800). Presenting the awards were the Vice Chancellor of KDU University College, Prof Dr Hiew Pang Leang and Mr Koh, which right after, was immediately followed with a gift exchange between Canon and KDU to commemorate and conclude the special occasion.

The Academic Initiative Partnership a bridge between academia and industry that will commit both parties to an exchange and sharing of knowledge and resources, which includes sponsorships, scholarships as well as other mutually-beneficial collaborative ventures.
