Nutriden Sleep Formula Contains Phellodendron for Emotional Well Being

As part of the company launching into the marketplace, Nutriden Inc. is launching its new Sleep aid with Phellodendron.

In traditional Chinese medicine, Huang bai, a herb more commonly known as phellodendron, is in the top 50 for most important herbs.

Phellodendron is derived from the two species of Phellodendron tree; one tree found in central and lowland China and the other tree found in Northern China. Huang means yellow in Chinese, and the color comes from an alkaloid berberine that phellodendron contains. Portions of the root, bark, berry, or twig are cut and made into a fine mesh powder that can be capsuled. Phellodendron contains numerous anti-oxidants and these anti-oxidants translate into health benefits, including emotional well being.

Some of phellodendron’s health benefits are due to containing some unique chemicals. One of the chemicals, berberine, has been shown to lower blood sugar and bad cholesterol, as well as protect the liver from toxicity. Another chemical in Phellodendron, palmatine, has been associated with reducing Candida growth; in fact, the unique phytonutrients it contains have natural anti-depressants and emotional well-being properties. High levels of stress increase susceptability to developing depression. Talbot and Pugh (2013) concluded in their study using phellodendron that “… results suggest an effective natural approach to modulating the detrimental health effects of chronic stress in moderately stressed adults.”

Phellodendron works great to calm the mind, and when combined with other ingredients, works great as a sleep formula before bed, the company says. They add that phellodendron is a great, natural option for people who suffer from high-level or chronic stress and depression and want a natural sleep aid because they know that a good night’s sleep is critical in maintaining good health including optimum emotional well being.
