Grace Foods has announced the second staging of its successful Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival – DC. The event will be held on Sunday, June 18 at the RFK Stadium Festival Lawn, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and will feature a variety of spicy jerk culinary favorites, as well as fun activities and musical entertainment for the entire family.
A day of food, music and fun is promised by Grace Foods and sponsors for this year’s festival. The cross-cultural event is the largest Caribbean Food Festival in the United States. It will attract people from varying ethnic backgrounds across the DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) belt, while highlighting the influence of Caribbean people on the history and culture of the area. Patrons will be able to enjoy a number of traditional favorites, including jerked chicken and pork, along with delicacies such as jerked fish, shrimp, and lobster.
In addition to the eclectic mix of menu choices, attendees will also be treated to premium entertainment from the main stage. There will be performances from top reggae and soca acts, including Romain Virgo, Queen Ifrica, and Bunji Garlin, as well as cultural showcases earlier in the day, such as fire eating and dancing. The kids will also be catered for with their own Kids Zone, which will feature a range of rides, slides, games and maypole dancing.
Further entertainment will come in the form of a Jerk Cook-off, which will see a number of celebrities vying for cash, prizes and the chance to win the coveted Dutch Pot trophy. This year’s staging will see winner of The Food Network’s Chopped competition, Andre Fowles, taking part in the cook-off.
The hosting of the second annual Grace Jamaican Jerk Festival, Washington DC, is expected to be bigger and better than the inaugural staging. Tickets are currently on sale at a number of physical locations across the DMV area, but they can also be purchased online at http://dcjerkfestival.com/tickets/.
