Top St. Jude’s Primary Student Receives Auto Don Sponsorship

Auto Don has extended a helping hand to Nickolei Campbell of St. Jude’s Primary, in the form of a sponsorship agreement. The sponsorship was announced recently and sees the used car and auto parts dealer helping to fund the 12 year old’s education, up until he enters high school.

The sponsorship is part of the Auto Don for Education Programme, which was launched earlier in 2016. It involves the company reaching out to change the life of a brilliant but disenfranchised youth from its community each year. Under the programme, Nickolei will receive funds towards extra lessons, lunch, and a $30,000 grant to offset the costs of entering high school. The youngster was chosen for his numerous academic achievements at his school, which is located near the vicinity of the Auto Don office.

“He is presently the captain of the quiz team, and he is a good, well-mannered, disciplined, helpful [student], and he is also the deputy head boy at this time,” said Susanna Ainsworth, Principal of St. Jude’s Primary.

The principal also revealed that Nickolei had topped his class throughout grades 1 – 4 while just missing out on the top spot in grade 5. His current teacher, Marshalee Brown, noted that he hadn’t been able to attend extra lessons before being sponsored by Auto Don, but was now at the top of class since sponsorship. The extra lessons are needed to prepare Nickolei for G-SAT exams, which he will sit next year.

According to Auto Don, its new sponsorship programme is designed to help in the advancement of Jamaica’s future leaders. “This initiative is about supporting the future leaders of this country,” said Donahue Martin, Auto Don’s Chief Executive Officer.

Auto Don’s sponsorship of Nickolei Campbell comes as the company seeks to go above and beyond its corporate social responsibility for a company of its size. The company was launched as a wholesale distributor of automotive parts and accessories in 1998 before opening its used car division in 2013.
