Charlotte, North Carolina - Charlotte real estate agents at High Performance Real Estate predict that the housing market will remain strong throughout 2017 even though it may not show the same amount of growth as it did in 2016. realtor.com, which specializes in residential real estate, estimate that the region covering Charlotte, Concord, and Gastonia will see a growth of 6.3% in sales activity combined with a 4.3% annual price increase. This is enough growth to land the Charlotte area at number 21 on the site’s list of the biggest 100 metropolitan areas in the United States.

Only other two other areas in North Carolina were listed higher on the list: Raleigh which was ranked number eight with a 7.6% sales increase predicted along with a 4.2% increase in price; and Durham which was ranked number eleven and had a predicted sales activity increase of 9% and a price increase of 2.6%.

Elsewhere on the list, the Phoenix, Mesa, and Scottsdale area in Arizona scored the top spot followed by Los Angeles, California and Boston, Massachusetts, respectively. Finishing last on the list at number 100 was Chicago, Illinois.

Real estate agents in Charlotte, NC foresee a slower, steadier growth in 2017 and are well aware that property in the area is a hot commodity. While this growth is great for current homeowners in the area, it may prove to make it more difficult for first time buyers to find a home. The hike in price along with an increase in mortgage interest rates could push first time buyers out of the market.
