Law Week: Gross & Schuster, P.A. - Pensacola Personal Injury Lawyers

May 1 of each year is designated as “Law Day,” and the week starting with the Sunday preceding May 1 is proclaimed “Law Week” in Florida. All residents, schools, businesses, and clubs and the mass media are invited to commemorate the role of law in our lives. For the past 10 years, the Pensacola personal injury lawyers of Gross & Schuster has held an open house for local residents during this week. This year Gross & Schuster will host two events. The first open house will take place on May 2, 2017, from 1-5 p.m. at Gross & Shuster’s office located at 803 N. Palafox St. in Pensacola. The second open house will be held on May 4, 2017, from 1-5 p.m. at Gross and Schuster’s office located at 1501 S. Ferdon Blvd. in Crestview.

The attorneys will review home and automobile insurance policies to help ensure the attending community members have adequate coverage to protect their family, friends and themselves. Additionally, the attorneys will advise community members how they can be better protected should an unexpected accident occur.

Attorney Terence Gross explains the reason they hold this event each year. He states, “Once a client is in my office, it is too late to go back and change his or her insurance coverage. This event gives us an opportunity to inform individuals of the specific terms of their policy and the effects of these terms before an unforeseen tragedy occurs and they are stuck with the coverage they have in place.” The Pensacola car accident attorneys at Gross and Schuster see many cases where the biggest issue is a lack of insurance coverage either by the injured party, the at-fault party or both. Many times the individuals are under the impression they have the best insurance coverage they can afford, yet they do not. Mr. Gross explains, “We meet with hundreds of injured people every year who are adamant they have ‘full coverage.’ However, often times, when we look at the insurance policies, they are missing important coverages, such as med pay and underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage. Underinsured individuals frequently experience problems obtaining adequate compensation for their injuries.”

Mr. Gross surmises this repeatedly occurs because of two main reasons. First, “full coverage” is a subjective term that means something different to every consumer. A person may tell an insurance agent he or she wants full coverage; however, full coverage may mean something completely different to the agent than to the consumer. Additionally, consumers, when purchasing insurance, are often more worried about the costs of the coverage rather than the actual coverage itself.
