The Strategic Edge is an interpersonal communication company in New York, NY, which offers businesses and individuals training on a variety of different issues, with a focus on interpersonal relations. They are proud to announce that they now also offer team building sessions. Specifically, they offer Group Discovery and Communication Sessions that are designed for people to "make nice in the sandbox". Meredith Gardner, Ph.D., founder and owner of The Strategic Edge, says, "When you're in the sandbox, it's your choice whether to throw sand in somebody's eyes - or not."

Gardner explains: "When trying to build a team, it is important to understand that it requires more than just skills. You also have to think about the personalities of the individual members, the strength of their collaborative efforts, and how these things impact on innovative developments."

In the training, people are introduced to the so-called 'ingredients' of a great team. According to Gardner, this starts with leaders accepting that they can learn a lot from a wealth of different people, including psychologists and film directors. She says, "No one personality style is better than another. For sure, some are easier to get along with than others. Yet, once you learn how people are wired, communication is enhanced, along with teamwork and innovation. Goals are met and best of all, people are having more fun and less stress."

During the team building programs offered by The Strategic Edge, people will learn how they can listen with an open mind, and how this engenders improved communication between the different members of the team. Furthermore, they look at why it is so important to understand the different personality styles, and how this can help to overcome dissonance.

Most importantly, the training is designed to ensure that every member of the team has clarity on the common vision, and the roles and goals. In so doing, collaboration is improved. Participants leave with a shared commitment to group synergy. Dr. Gardner ends: "Each Team-Building Program develops stronger teams to work collaboratively and harmoniously towards common goals. Team members see each other differently while learning tolerance and true team spirit."
