Thislifestyle.com, a health blog, has released a report showing how families and elder siblings impact their sibling’s lifestyle decisions. The report comes days after they published an article on the benefits that come with living healthy.

“Following the positive feedback we received on our article about the benefits of a healthy body, I realized that we could benefit a lot of families by showing them the roles every member of their family play in influencing the lifestyle decisions they make,” Rachel Zoe, the blog owner said.

The report states that every family member play a huge role in how siblings, or their children develop eating habits, how they perform physical activities or the children’s attitudes towards their bodies and physical appearances. This report coincidentally resonates to a new British Nutrition Foundation that claimed that young children looked up to their elders when it came to healthy living and lifestyle decisions.

Rachel says, “The idea to publish the report was to inspire families that struggled with lifestyle decisions among themselves to take up action and make better decisions”. Jane further says that although her research indicated that children changed their role models as they grew older, but the report might help young parents prioritize health living into their kids still while they are young.

“We hope to reach out to everyone with young kids and show them that they can underpin healthy living in their homes and raise kids who won’t have regrets later. We understand that children change as they grow older, but if we can convince more parents to teach young kids to be disciplined in their physical and eating habits at a young age, we will have a generation of healthy living people for as long as we live,” Jane noted.

According to the report released by the British Nutrition Foundation, the actions parents and older siblings take to young kids can impact them for the rest of their lives. Jane also reiterates this statement in her report as she noted parents who rewarded good eating and exercising habits had a greater chance of raising children who live healthier lifestyle despite the environmental and social influences they face later.

Jane Lorenzo, who took part in the research process of the new report, however says that “everyone in society should work to instill lifestyle discipline.” She further notes that, “Schools and the media are great influencers that should be used to influence positive lifestyle decisions. This short report could be the starting point for people in our society to embrace and preach healthy habits.”
