In July 2016, a woman was brutally attacked and sexually assaulted in Panama City, sending the city on high alert. A man from Jamaica was arrested a little later and charged with the crime. Gross & Schuster P.A. of Crestview, a law firm in Crestview, FL, has updated the residents of Crestview and Panama City about the case, informing them that the suspect has now been convicted of sexual battery with physical force likely to cause serious personal injury and sexual battery. The community has breathed a sigh of relief at the result of the case, which the Crestview lawyers have been monitoring since it began.

Terence Gross, a partner in Gross & Schuster P.A. of Crestview, says: "The attack in July was particularly brutal, and the entire community has been on high alert. While Segwayne Goldson, 29, was arrested quite rapidly after the attack, residents, particularly women, did not feel safe yet until it was confirmed that he was actually the attacker."

Goldson was convicted when DNA evidence from the crime scene was presented to the jury. Sentencing will take place later, but the attacker could face as much as life in prison. A minimum mandatory sentence of 50 years is likely to be imposed. The Crestview personal injury lawyer has said they would continue to monitor the case and inform the community on sentencing outcomes.

"Goldson's attack was truly brutal," adds Terence Gross. "He grabbed his victim from behind as she was walking home, wearing all black. He covered her mouth and throat and forced her to walk down a path, eventually forcing her down to the ground and restraining her, although not before the woman recognized him. He then proceeded to rape her and strangled her to unconsciousness."

Of particular concern, according to Terence Gross, who is known as the best accident attorney Crestview has to offer, was that Goldson initially pleaded not guilty, declaring that he engaged in consensual sex with the victim. Furthermore, he currently faces another sexual battery charge, this time in Walton County. This case will be trialed separately after sentencing. Either way, residents of the Crestview community and surrounding area can feel safe again.
