Thermal meters do not need additional pressure, temperatures or monitoring of the density. This type of meter can be placed into the fluid stream, or may be external. They require two temperature sensors and an electric heater between them. This type of meters has no moving parts and can be used with a wide variety of pipe diameters.

Coriolis flow measurement operates on the concept of the Earth's Coriolis effect. It utilized two parallel sensor flow tubes, vibrating in opposition to one another. The mass flow meter's phase shift is measured at the sensor tubes' inlet and outlets. This device is a true mass flow meter.
