Georgia Plaintiffs File Talcum Powder Lawsuit

TheProductLawyers.com reports on a recent lawsuit filed by a Georgia teacher concerning talcum powder.

According to a report by HarrisMartin Publishing, a group of plaintiffs from Georgia recently filed a suit alleging that Johnson & Johnson’s “deliberate and calculated suppression of the truth about the carcinogenic nature of talc powder” was directly to blame for one plaintiff’s development of ovarian cancer. The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.

Many women in the U.S. have made similar claims that allege Johnson & Johnson prevented consumers from knowing the dangers of using the powders. Those plaintiffs also claim that the use of Johnson & Johnson’s powders as a feminine hygiene product are directly linked to ovarian cancer. The company has strongly denied claims that their products cause cancer and has stated that no causal link exists.

Over the course of several decades, numerous studies have found that women who use baby powder as a feminine hygiene product are more likely to develop this debilitating disease. Many other research endeavors attempting to identify a link between cancer and talcum powder, however, have found the results inconclusive.
